Basically, this wedding ROCKS. It roars with style, if you will pardon the pun. This is a super fun, DINOSAUR themed wedding. Yes, you read that right. And you know what, I really think it works.

Introducing, Christina (who I think is uber cool, don’t you agree?) : If you would have told me I was going to have a dinosaur theme wedding a year ago, I would have laughed at you.

All I wanted was magenta and lime green. Magenta and lime green EVERYTHING. Flowers, linens, walls, everything. Then I entered to win a free ice sculpture and my name was chosen at random. Our choices were basically ice swans or ice flowers. My husband asked if we could custom order an ice T Rex, the venue said yes, and I couldn’t come up with a compelling reason why not. So we did. And so it began.

I found an "I heart dinosaurs" button at the mall and thought it would be cute to add to my bouquet.

I ordered T Rex cuff links for Chris as a wedding gift.

We carefully sorted 50 pounds of gummy dinosaurs into lime green take-out containers with magenta tulle.

We learned the line dance to "Everybody Walk The Dinosaur" and requested that our DJ play it–along with the Jurassic Park theme song.

I painstakingly stamped pink dinosaur heads on the place cards. Before we knew it, we had a magenta and lime green dinosaur theme wedding with either NO back story–or an awesome one, depending on how you looked at it.

It took us a year and ten months to plan the day and it was probably the worst year and ten months of my life. I had bridesmaid drama, family drama, reception food drama, shuttle bus drama and MAJOR dress drama thanks to a hatchet job seamstress. Up until about 72 hours before the wedding, I didn’t even know what my final dress would look like!

In the end, it all worked itself out and the food was delicious (chicken francaise and sliced sirloin with my favourite sides–haricot verts and red bliss potatoes), the shuttle bus was only 20 minutes late, and my dress was everything I dreamed it to be. My shoes were even relatively comfortable for most of the night and I escaped with just 2 blisters.

We kept the ceremony on-site and extremely short so our guests could get on with the reception. I’m so glad we decided to make our wedding fun and tongue-in-cheek with the dinosaurs–people seemed to enjoy it and I don’t regret a thing–except that it wasn’t my idea to begin with!
