The bride, Ms Purple Peacock herself, tells all: Graeme and I were married on the 28th of August at The Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham (a Brides Up North Featured Supplier no less!). I really wanted a modern meets classic elegance wedding. Something I can look back on when I’m very old and very wrinkly and still think how lovely everything was. It was pretty cliche, in the best day of my life kind of way. The rest of the wedding was a stylish celebration of how much we love each other.

I really LOVE flowers, I think they really made our wedding. The tone was really set for the day with the arrival of the bouquets. Hydrangeas, roses & orchids were the order of the day! Under strict instructions to deliver Knock-Out-Flowers my florist, the lovely Lisa from The Wild Bunch Sunderland, really excelled herself. My centrepieces truly overwhelmed me, tall vases packed with hydrangeas, roses and orchids hung on ribbon complete with candlelight. The top table, Escort card table and guest book table came completed with mirrored cubes packed full of hydrangeas, tall slim vases of orchids and candles.

Unfortunately we had a house fire and lost a lot of the original wedding items, the bridesmaid dresses were no exception. I could not get the exact dresses I had initially but I believe in everything happening for a reason and couldn’t believe it when I stumbled accross these grecian style beauties by Jim Hjelm. I promptly paid the rush fee and boy did my girls’ look flippin fab!

*The Venue*

We are not religious and wanted a service that really reflected our love and the whole purpose of the day.
We choose the Ramside Hall Hotel & Golf Club in Durham for a few reasons, but mainly the Ballroom.
The service was so emotional and I was completely overwhelmed walking down the aisle to meet my man.

*Details*
**
I LOVE details.
.
I make wedding stationery for a living and one of my most favourite things to make are Escort Cards. They are such a unique and fun way to point guests’ to their table. It was quite a novelty and went down great.
.
My advice to anyone is don’t scrimp on the details. It is the details that make your wedding personal and unique to you. The girls and I spent hours tying ribbon round peacock feathers for each place setting and hours tying wish bracelets to card and raffia round sweetie bags for the men! We had a pre-wedding shoot at the fun fair and on the beach which lent itself nicely to a quirky guestbook which went down a storm.
I didn’t have a theme, we just went with the flow – which developed as the months went by and it all came together beautifully.
