How did Stan Seaton Photography begin?
.
Stan went into photography from leaving school, he studied at college at Newcastle and since then he has constantly kept up to date with new technology and techniques. He is regularly in touch with some of the leading photographers within the industry and is constantly looking for new inspiration through art and the fashion industry. I have been working with Stan for ten years now and together we make a great team, we each bring something of ourselves to the partnership.

Why choose wedding photography?
.
Weddings are such exciting events to be part of and every one is so different, but even within one wedding there is such a wide variety of emotions to capture.

What do you love about it?
.
We love the variation of wedding venues, people and styles; how can you ever be bored when you are working with clients who are planning the most exciting day of their lives? We never get up in the morning and think I don’t want to go to work today.

How do get your clients to relax?
.
All our couples have a pre wedding shoot is included as part of our wedding service. The session gives us the perfect opportunity to get to know our clients a little better as we usually meet up for coffee first and have a chat. At the beginning of every pre wedding shoot the couple are usually quite nervous, but as we chat and give subtle direction as we shoot, encouraging them to interact with each other, they become less conscious of the camera. We then arrange to view the images back at the studio the following week, also giving us a further opportunity to catch up on latest wedding plans. Once the bride and groom have seen how easy we make it to get great images of themselves, they will be so much more chilled about their photography on their big day.

What if I don’t like having my photograph taken?
.
A large percentage of girls (and some guys) arrive at the pre wedding shoot saying that they don’t like photos of themselves, but once they see their pre wedding shoot images they are far more chilled about having their photo taken on the wedding day, with the added bonus that having met us several times prior to their wedding, we are not two total strangers turning up on the day.

What make-up should a bride choose?
.
Obviously brides need to wear a little more make up than usual for their wedding day, but I would certainly recommend that they have a trial with a make-up artist and ask them to give them a couple of looks,
so that they can choose which is the right look for them. It is good to have an open mind at your make up consultation, but you need to find a look that is right for you, that you will feel comfortable with and will last throughout the day.

What should a bride avoid?
.
I would always recommend that when a bride tries on the dress of her dreams, that she moves around and sits down in it. Sometimes a dress that looks fabulous when stood in front of a mirror or on the
model, is not always flattering and comfortable when a bride moves around. We all have hang ups about some aspect of our bodies, so choose a dress that plays to your strengths..

Are there any weddings that you really remember?
.
Every wedding we photograph has something that makes it memorable to us, but often something unexpected on the day is what makes a wedding stand out from the rest. I can remember one wedding that we photographed in November at Judges Hotel, it was a really horrible damp day and I can remember getting up and thinking how disappointed Claire would be with the weather. As the day progressed it became damper and foggy. However when the time came to take Claire and Andrew away for a few intimate photos, Claire was determined that she was going to brave the weather, and couldn’t believe the results. The swirling fog in the gardens was beautiful and with the old fashioned lampposts, it looked as if we hand stepped into the world of CS Lewis’ Narnia. Claire and Andrew had images to die for!

What can a bride and groom who book Stan Seaton Photography expect on the day?
.
We limit the number of weddings we book each year, and there is only Stan and myself, so you will only ever deal with one of us and we will both be there on the day. We give a very personal service and are
still in touch with many of our ‘old’ brides and grooms. One couple said of us recently "For our wedding we bought a photography service, but we have ended up meeting two new friends whose services we
will use for many years to come."

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price?

Every couple’s requirements are different and we will sit down with prospective clients and work out what will work best for you – we strive to not only meet but to exceed expectations. Our wedding services start at £1500.

We do put a lot of work into our weddings and only use the very best albums, so our prices are very competitive but we would be happy to give any Brides up North readers some extra complimentary images in their album.
