A brand new wedding industry concept has resulted in two websites putting together the best jewellery and stationery designers on the net – with a gallery of images that are free to download. The founder, Tracey of Bridal Designs, tells this wedding blogger more.

To start with it was only meant to be a way of promoting my own jewellery site and the sites of a few jewellery designer friends (we have our own little Facebook group where we came up with this plan). The idea was to start a website where we could upload photos of our designs, bloggers and media would then be able to download the photos free of charge giving us publicity and of course extra links to our websites to keep the Google god happy.

The domain name www.weddingjewelleryphotos.co.uk was duly purchased and we uploaded our pics, and at this point I took over the running of the site alongside my jewellery business.

The initial members did a bit of tweeting about the website but then I started getting messages from other jewellery designers asking how they could join. I wasn’t prepared for this! It hadn’t occurred to me that
designers outside our little clan would be interested in taking part but they definitely were. We started with 6 wedding jewellery designers, and to date we now have 20 on board!

This then expanded into the next website where we decided to let our paper prettying friends join in with www.weddingstationeryphotos.co.uk – this site already has 9 members with more on the way.

These two websites were instantly successful with page one Google visibility resulting in extra traffic for the designers. The idea has also been well received by online and off line publishers in the wedding sector with an increasing number of people becoming aware of and using this free and easy to use resource.

This way of working has advantages not just for the designers themselves but for brides to be and the media as well. Because weddings are a one-off lifetime event brides enter the process of planning their wedding with very little experience of looking at the kind of accessories they are going to need – this is all new to them! Before they can decide on the style of wedding accessories they like they need to see lots of examples of what’s around and websites like this provide just that kind of inspirational resource. For media it means that if they suddenly need a photo to finish an article they can just pop onto the site, look under the category that applies and download it, for high res they just need to email the designer and it will be emailed over.

Hopefully our members will start to form friendships as I have with my fellow designers on our Facebook group, if we need a certain component for an urgent order we help each other out, we recommend each other to clients if they want something we don’t specialise in ourselves and of course we share the day to day moaning, gossiping and celebrating!
