For now though, lets head over to the North West for an awesome Trash The Dress session sent in by friend of the wedding blog, Jonathan from JAY Photographic Images. This session has so much spirit. The wetter this red dress gets, the fierier it becomes! To. Die. For.

Jonathan explains: Jane had wanted to be married in a red wedding dress, but with her Catholic Church service it just didn’t seem quite appropriate. So with her original dress sold, she sourced the dress she really wanted and prepared for our shoot.

That Sunday the weather decided to take a turn for the worse. Fine for the gardeners out there, who I’m sure were glad of a bit of rain, but when you’ve had a beach bridal shoot planned for months it really doesn’t help!

The lovely Jane and her husband, John, were still game for coming along, despite the weather. But none of us were prepared for how horrible the conditions were when we arrived at Talacre Beach. The driving rain and strong winds really weren’t what we wanted for such a shoot. So we decided to head off for a coffee and deliberate about what Plan B would become.

Our chosen location for coffee was the Nant Hall, in Prestatyn. Not only where they happy to take in some already damp guests, but they were equally open to us starting our photo shoot there too. It did cause some confusion to the early Sunday lunchtime restaurant visitors, who were happy to come over and congratulate the ‘married couple’.

I was so pleased that despite what the weather was chucking at us all, we didn’t decide to throw in the towel and just went for it with the bridal shoot over at the beach. Jane had gone to so much effort to purchase her wonderful red wedding dress and floral bouquet it would have been such a shame if we didn’t capture some shots in the great outdoors.

Despite hiding out at the Nant Hall for a coffee break, interior shoot and even catching lunch, the wind and rain hadn’t really eased off at all. With wellies, waterproofs and even gloves in hand (was this really June?) we dashed around the beach getting all the shots we could.

Jane and John were fantastic and despite getting soaked within seconds of coming out from under their golf brolly, they really helped us produce some brilliant images. A red wedding dress isn’t often an option for most brides, given the sort of wedding they might have arranged, so in Jane’s case she revelled in the opportunity to go for something quite different to the actual dress she got married in.

Unless you really look quite hard I don’t think you could even spot how much rain was coming down on us that afternoon, but the dress will clean up perfectly and for the images that we’ve produced for them both, it was so worth it.
