I’m off beautifying myself and double checking scripts today, in preparation to host the first ever North of England Wedding Awards. I am sure that I will be reporting back on progress throughout the day at Twitter and Facebook, trying to keep those dreaded nerves at bay. I am pleased to report that unique hits here at Brides Up North are higher than currently ever – hooray! – we have well over 7,000 followers on Twitter and that judging from pre-registrations (and an absolutely fantastic turnout at our first show of the season last weekend at Nostell Priory) that the Brides Up North wedding exhibitions this Autumn look set to be a huge success. So I think you like me…

This isn’t just one huge plea for popularity (I promise!), and our numbers over at Facebook are hugely swelling day on day (I’ll admit, I neglected Facebook a little at the beginning of this Brides Up North journey) but because I want to make you aware of the fabulous Brides Up North community that is growing over there.

Facebook is always the place I’ll head when I want to share brand new news, sneak peeks or breaking stories with brides – it’s quick, easy, and it gets the gossip off my chest. I really do feel like a little community is hanging out over there – and often you engage more and leave more comments there than on the blog itself! Please note: I love blog comments (and would encourage you not to be shy and leave more – especially for my real brides!) but it’s nice to hear from readers over on Facebook in real time too – and it’s quick, easy and gets your gossip off your chest! Note to self: it seems that billion pound businesses are built on quickness and ease.

I’ll also share news of events, breaking featured supplier discounts and giveaways, brand new competitions and the like over there first (and sometimes only there!) A recent competition to win a free copy of The Wedding Diaries was posted on Facebook and closed half an hour later, with all ten copies snapped up. You really have to be in it to win it, it seems.
