Before we get going this morning, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to leave a blog comment, Facebook message, like or tweet on my last post about our happy news. You are amazing and your kind words mean a lot. Thank you as always for your unwavering support of my journey.

Back to business as usual this morning, and it’s straight into the pretty! Getting the day off to a fine start, it’s the gorgeous, quirky, beachy Real Wedding of North East couple Suzie and Nicky, shot by Brides Up North Featured Supplier Chris of Xtraordinary Photography.

Susie says: We got engaged in New York’s Central Park on 25th November 2011 and were married on May 19th 2012 at St Paul Church Jarrow then Marsden Grotto in South Shields.

I had always wanted to get married in a church and the location is beautiful. We wanted a laid back wedding and chose a colour scheme of navy blue.

I chose to wear a Grecian style, flowing wedding dress and my bridesmaids all wore long blue one shoulder gowns. We all carried a mixture of natural wild flowers, all cream.

My favourite part of the day was the church and seeing Nick’s face when I walked down the aisle as well as having all the people you love together for one special day.

We hired a VW camper van from Love Dub Cars to take me and the bridesmaids to the Church and a double decker old red bus from Promotion Buses to transport the guests from the church to the venue

To add our own special touch to the day at The Grotto We had fireworks & fire eaters and my mum made goodie bags with games and sweets in them to entertain. These included foam aeroplanes, fudges and other delights!

I didn’t want an actual wedding cake so my mum made a selection of large cakes, lemon, chocolate, fruit cake & carrot cake.

We haven’t had a honeymoon yet as I’m expecting a baby and my partner works abroad but we had a lovely spa day at Rockliffe Hall then a day in Oxfordshire following the wedding.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to relax, its meant to be one of the best days of your life and you spend the days leading up to it stressing and worrying that everything will ok and to be honest you have no control.
.
Enjoy the day and savour every moment.

Congratulations Suzie & Nicky!
