Fancy something a little bit different with your Friday morning bacon butty?  I don’t mean HP instead of Heinz either. Even better, if you can believe it (depending on whether you are operating on a Thursday night “it’s nearly Christmas” hangover, I suppose).

.

This morning we are in the North West conducting a little underwater art experiment with friend of the wedding blog, Craig of Unforgettable Memories.  During this trash the dress styled film shoot, Craig and his small team explore movement and grace.  Maybe not something you do every weekend, granted, but certainly captivating, definitely different and utterly beautiful.  Soak it up and be inspired.

Craig says:  Now, I know that this isn’t your typical bridal shoot and that many of you would be horrified to think of your stunning wedding dress being thrown in a pool. However, you can’t say it isn’t different, and you certainly can’t say it isn’t beautiful.

.

As trained diver I have always loved being underwater and have created some wonderful footage of the tranquillity of underwater life and when I started producing wedding films I saw similarities between the detailed beauty of bridal gowns and the detailed beauty of the underwater environment so it seemed like a good idea to bring the two together. However it wasn’t until I was having a conversation with Doris Designs who provide bridal petticoats that this actually came to fruition.

During our conversation about a number of different shoots Doris happened to mention that she would love to see how her wonderful skirts would react in water, and I certainly wasn’t going to waste the opportunity to show her. As we discussed the options I was getting more and more excited about how I could make this happen and immediately began to set the wheels in motion.

I contacted a local dive club who happened to use a local pool for their practise sessions. They were extremely helpful and allowed me to go down and take a look at what they could offer and we agreed that the shoot could take place during one of the regular evenings. So pool sorted I now needed dresses and a model. I already had a couple of wedding dresses which I had previously used for creative shoots so that wasn’t a problem; however finding a model who was willing and able to wear one, in a pool, with her eyes open and still look gracious was to be the biggest challenge.

Luckily for me, I do get involved in a wide range of video projects which take me all around the country and during a shoot for a music video I happened to meet a lovely girl who was a burlesque dancer so I picked up the phone and called her. As this was something she hadn’t done before she was extremely excited to get involved and a date was set.  When the time came I met Talulah and we headed off to the pool. She did her own makeup and got into the water. This is the end result.
