Dashing in with a quick dose of (very) prettiness as an antidote to the madness and chaos – chaos I tell you! – at Brides Up North HQ ahead of our largest event of the season this Sunday at Ramside Hall Hotel. It’s all floor plans, fashion shows and VIP goody bag stuffing here, but I hope that this lovely little shoot sent to me by Poppy of Papaver Designs provides you with a little wedding inspiration zen this evening. I sure as hell need some!

Poppy says: An idyllic garden in Spennymoor, Durham was transformed into the setting for a glamorous wedding themed photo shoot earlier this month. I talked my neighbours into hosting after a woodland venue cancelled at the last minute. It turned out to be the perfect setting for this boho glam style shoot.
This otherwise normal back garden was home to an abundance of wedding cakes, bunting, artwork, decorations, models and businesses from across the North East. They all came together to create a unique and inspirational photo shoot to inspire brides for their special day.
Inspiration was taken from bohemian ideals. Love, life and music played a big part in this theme. Bright pinks and purples mixed with gold contrasted with the natural garden setting to make a bold statement.
Among the businesses involved was photographer, Emily Pearson from Captured Hearts Photography. I originally met Emily at Derwentside Enterprise Agency where we both got business support and advice via mentoring, workshops and free courses.
I create handmade lanterns, wedding stationery and other wedding-inspired items. I run a busy online shop and website and am enjoying selling my hand-made wares all over the world. However my heart is in the North East and the amazing talent that is here.
I enjoy getting together with local businesses to create photo shoots. It’s a great way to make connections and promote each other’s work. There is some amazing talent in the North East and we should be proud of the independent businesses that come from here.
