Very Berry. A Glam Bridal Styled Shoot at Bowcliffe Hall

Alexis Forsyth

Planning an autumn wedding? Then this one’s for you! Today’s fabulous styled shoot was led by Lottie from Lottie Haigh Wedding and Occasion Hair, bringing together lots of talented suppliers to spotlight the great British outdoors in autumn, set at the wonderful Bowcliffe Hall near Wetherby, West Yorkshire.

As you’d expect, there are so many gorgeous hues incorporated within the shoot to reflect this transitioning season – golds, sumptuous reds and subtle orange accents. The wild, textured bouquets and bride’s ever so pretty flower crown perfectly showcase this palette, giving us those autumnal feels by the bucketload!

As for the fashion – there are two gorgeous outfits to pore over today. The first is a full-sleeved lace dress, bringing those vintage-glam vibes (and just wait until you see the exquisite detailing to the back of the gown!). The team went for an altogether more polished look for the bride’s hair and beauty – we’re talking loose soft waves and a natural makeup palette. Truly classic.

And more unusually, the second outfit showcased is a flirtatiously fun two-piece, styled with a denim jacket no less. Proof that you don’t have to stick to the rules and can get a little more creative with your wedding day attire! Styling wise, this was complemented by a Dutch braid crown, with flowers weaved through the hair – topped off with a gold leaf crown. Beau-ti-ful!

Feeling inspired yet? Here’s Lottie to give us all the behind the scenes goss from the shoot!

Lottie says

: The inspiration for the shoot came from the beautiful UK outdoors during the turn into autumn. We drew inspiration from the natural and ethereal outdoors at our chosen venue, Bowcliffe Hall.

Bowcliffe Hall is full of rich history, originally as a family home and now as a wedding venue. It has strong references inside to the automobile industry, the grounds are beautifully maintained and it was just the perfect backdrop for the shoot.

Flower-wise, Bethan at Bureau Botany used a variety of autumnal toned items – both foliage and flowers. It was important to build in texture. Bethan also supplied flowers for the styling of model Emma’s hair, these flowers were especially prepared so that they would last the duration of the day and could be effectively used in the hair styling.

Katie, owner of The Aisle in Ilkley, brought two stunning wedding dresses by Wendy Makin – a two-piece and a full-sleeved lace dress. Katie also owns Beespoke Bridal, a denim brand especially for bridal wear, personalised for brides and her bridal party. We also used several stunning items from Botias Accessories, including hair accessories and unique jewellery.

As we had two different outfits we chose two very different styles. The full-sleeved lace dress screamed Hollywood glamour when Emma put it on, so we created soft waves with a little height, keeping her hair polished but looking effortless. For the makeup, taken care of by FACES Make Up, we went with luminescent looks to let the model’s natural beauty shine through.

The second outfit was very playful with the two-piece styled with the bespoke denim jacket. We took the opportunity to be more experimental with both the hair and makeup. We created a soft Dutch braid crown and worked the flowers through the hairstyle and finished with a gold leaf crown from Botias. With regards to the makeup, we echoed the golden tones in the jewellery and used these tones on the eyes and then finished with a strong dark lip.

Laura (our bridesmaid model) wore a stunning bridesmaid gown by We Are Rewritten, with jewelled tones that worked beautifully with the two-piece that Emma was wearing. We kept Laura’s makeup simple and created a soft low chignon with hair accessories to really bring the style to life.

On the shoot, we also had beautiful stationery from Gray Starling, and a stunning cake created by White Rose Cake Design.

My aim was to bring together some of the best suppliers in Yorkshire to showcase individual talents and to show couples planning their wedding how a team can collaborate to create something truly special and memorable for their wedding.

Both the looks and styling in the shoot are very accessible for any modern bride to take inspiration from. As a hairstylist, I hoped to bring together professionals for the shoot who focus their work on quality and sustainability.

The highlight of the day was finding the Ivy-clad wall outside, which since my first location scouting visit had turned a beautiful crimson shade, it made the perfect backdrop.

This was the first shoot I have brought together, and I found it really exciting to collaborate with experienced and talented wedding industry professionals.

Everyone worked tirelessly both in the lead up to, and on the day, to bring their A-Game and each supplier came with beautiful ideas, which complemented everyone else’s work.
