Hello! Osh Gosh Gowns is a prom dress and bridal boutique based in North Lincolnshire and stockist of some of the UK’s top bridal and prom designers.
Where did your passion for bridal fashion begin?
Wendy says: I started my path to a bridal career in the prom industry when it was just taking off here in the UK. It was actually my daughter’s prom and there was nothing really special around at that time so I saw a gap in the market and one that excited me! Knowing that bridal was my goal and would be the next step for the growth of Osh Gosh Gowns, I was lucky to find out that the most established boutique in my town was up for sale! It’s been there for over 60 years so it was a great feeling knowing that I could keep the tradition in our town moving forward.
I have always loved helping customers feel confident and beautiful right from their first appointment through to their wedding day. Customer service has always been a passion and this is definitely the right industry to be able to exercise that passion – times have changed and the customer experience is such a high priority now, this will always be something that we strive for at Osh Gosh Gowns. We don’t just sell wedding dresses – we sell dreams and special feelings – we are by our customers’ sides all the way and we want them to feel the best that they have ever felt on their wedding day.
Jess says: When I first started working at Osh Gosh Gowns I instantly knew that this was the right path for me. That first weekend at Harrogate Bridal Show I was in awe of the gowns and I couldn’t wait to make our brides dreams come true.
My growth with the business has been so exciting and now I am able to share our passion with our customers as I now look after all our social media platforms and the company website. Added to this I get to spend time with our customers and absolutely love helping them along their journey. With us it’s not just about buying a dress – it’s the whole experience and that’s the part that I really enjoy. It’s all about building self-confidence, helping a bride feel good about herself so that she’s in a good place to choose her perfect wedding dress. I have made so many friends through getting to know our customers and we strive to keep it that way.
Tell us about what makes your boutique special?
We work hard at making the boutique feel friendly, warm and welcoming. We have three private dressing rooms and always book plenty of time in the diary to spend with our brides. Our bridal consultants are experts in their trade and provide a fantastic level of style consultations for our customers. Our brides’ experience at Osh Gosh Gowns is so important to us. It’s all about helping women find that inner confidence and we are here to help support that. We also like to keep it real!
Does the boutique have a signature style of gown?
We don’t really have a signature style gown as we stock such a huge range, offering an amazing choice to a wide range of customers. Our collections include everything from traditional styles to something a little more on-trend and edgy. We always do our homework to keep up to date with the latest trends – as do many of our customers. But that said, we still get many brides looking for a more traditional style of dress to suit their personalities.
Which labels do you stock and why did you choose them?
Morilee has a style to suit every bride! Traditional to fashion-conscious dresses plus, of course, the most amazing Julietta range of dresses for our fabulous curvier brides. This is one of the first bridal collections we had in store and one of our best-selling designers – we love everything from the very talented and award winning Madeline Gardner. Gowns constructed to provide exceptional fit and create the perfect body form. Soft organzas, chiffons, tulle and a great selection of satins – always a ‘dress come true’ and always one of the designers that brings brides to Osh Gosh Gowns!
Added to our range in 2019, our newest designer to the boutique is Stella York. More than just a designer label, the dresses are sexy, extravagant and glamourous and inspired by the world’s hottest red-carpet trends which we absolutely love! With personality and personalization in mind each dress is a complement to a bride’s attitude, style and spirit.
Award-winning Veni Infantino of Ronald Joyce is an amazing designer who caters for every shape and style with classic and sophisticated styles to flatter every bride. Veni is well known for her low cut backs, beautiful lace, chic satin and couture touches such as show stopping sleeves, boho skirts and decadent princess gowns.
A fabulous friendly family run UK bridal designer, we work closely with the Tiffany Bridal team to bring some amazing quality yet affordable dresses into the boutique. Falling in love with a stylish and high quality dress should never compromise your budget. Tiffany Bridal provides designer quality dresses at affordable price points for our budget conscious brides collection is all priced from £850
We have also just added the bridesmaids collection from Tiffany Bridal as their range of styles is exceptional and the quality of fabrics some of the best that we have found in the industry. There are great price points and total flexibility with dresses – customers can choose zip or corset backs, longer lengths, have capped sleeves added, order additional fabric order matching junior bridesmaids or choose from a collection of flower girl dresses. Ultra feminine meets sensuality with the top of the range Dando London collection, captivating styling with sensual glamour. Christine Dando’s creative energy and skill is worked into each detail. We chose the Dando London collection gowns to bring an edgy, choice of dresses as we absolutely love the hallmark Dando London cut and creativity. This is our top of the range collection with prices from £1500 – £2200 – it’s a fashion forward range that really does offer something very special. The cut, the fit and sheer glamour of the collection is exceptional.
What sizes do you carry?
Instore we carry dresses size 6-26, however most gowns can be ordered from size 0-30 and a selection of dresses can be ordered in different lengths. We choose styles very carefully and offer honest advice when it comes to the choice of dress and when we take measurements to order confirmed sizes for our brides.
What sort of price point are your gowns?
Our main bridal collections range from £750 to £2250 and our bridesmaid collections start at £199.
Where would you advise brides to look for inspiration when beginning the dress hunt?
We always suggest having a look at our designers’ websites, our own website and of course our social media. Save the dresses you love in an album on your phone to show the bridal consultant at your appointment. Pinterest is also a great platform but be careful that you keep it real and aren’t choosing full on couture dresses. Try to choose something that you will feel comfortable in, that suits your personality and the practicalities of your own special day.
How do you approach each appointment?
Before entering the shop, each bride will be sent a ‘interview’ form so we know a little bit more about her before we meet, we encourage our brides to let us know the styles they are looking for prior to their appointment so we can do our homework as stylists and get some special gowns ready for their arrival. Each appointment in the boutique is 1hr and 30 mins, this gives us time to have a good chat with the bride to narrow down their wants and needs. Then comes the best bit; trying on all those beautiful gowns they have chosen.
We like to start with around 4 to 5 gowns as the initial process of finding the dream gown. We have over 200 dresses in store so have something for everyone. As professional stylists we will advise and guide, customising each look with accessories and offering tips on how to personalise dresses to include features that our bride is looking for.
This, we feel, is a major benefit of buying from a small independent boutique – we spend time to understand the needs of our customers and guide them accordingly, adding to the dress as the appointment unfolds.
Tell us about the fittings and alterations process?
We are lucky to have 4 incredible bridal seamstresses who will take care of each of our brides once her dream dress arrives in store. Alterations usually commence 2-3 months before the date of the wedding leading up to our customers collecting their beautifully steamed dress ready for their big day. This part is always bittersweet for us as we’re excited for our brides but sad that their journey is coming to an end with us. We always look forward to seeing photos over a cuppa though!
Why should brides shop in independent, local boutiques?
A more personalized experience is on offer when shopping at an independent local boutique. Brides will have the same consultant from the start of their journey until the end. We are experts in what we do. Post-sale service is of utmost importance to us, guiding our brides every step of the way until that all important collection the day before the wedding. We are here to help and reduce the stress levels so that the whole experience is enjoyable – that’s what we do! We like to get to know you, your style, your likes, your dislikes.
What do your brides love about your service?
We always get comments from brides about how personal and relaxed the appointments are in the boutique and how ‘approachable’ we are!
What are your top tips for clients when choosing their wedding outfits?
- Come to your appointment prepared, research online dresses you are liking the look of and bring your screenshots with you.
- Choose carefully who to bring with you to your bridal appointment, we want you in a relaxed state of mind – ready to enjoy your experience with us.
- Rest assured that we will give you our honest, independent advice – we want you looking and feeling your very best.
And your no-nos?
- Don’t choose a gown just because your friends or family love it. Make sure you love it too.
- Be open minded – don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone as you just might end up loving your alternative choice.
- Don’t try on too many dresses. You can get super confused which will ultimately cloud your decision and cause stress and confusion. The first dress can be THE ONE!

Dress for 2021? Ronald Joyce’s Drema 69580 is just so on trend right now with leafy lace and stunning floaty sleeves.
Trend for 2021? Pockets 100% as we just love a pocket! It’s such a talking point. Cathedral length veils are still very on trend and we still see a gap for floaty boho styles too. And overskirts or detachable sleeves that create two looks in one.
First dance track? The very classic ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis Presley.
Iconic wedding dress of all time? The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s is the one dress brides bring up all the time in appointments. It is such a beautiful traditional dress, elegant and classy teamed up with the perfect accessories.
Celebrity you would most want to dress? Stacey Soloman has recently got engaged. We would love to dress her for her big day as she would fit right in here at Osh Gosh Gowns. She is the perfect example of an Osh Gosh Gowns bride!
