An outdoor micro wedding for today’s featured styled shoot, courtesy of Floral & Lace. This feature is positively bursting with fresh florals, special touches and clever ideas for having your big day on a smaller scale!
Hull-based florist, Floral & Lace missed creating amazing arrangements so much during lockdown that, once she had her hands on some fresh flowers, she couldn’t help but flex her creative muscles.
Thinking with the current times in mind, she’s assembled a talented gang of socially-distanced suppliers and created a pretty pink setup that would be appropriate for even the smallest of ceremonies! What’s not to love? Check out that flower crown! We’re excited to be featuring the finished product and hope it provides some much needed reassurance and inspo for our brides and grooms-to-be!

CONCEPT
Floral & Lace says: The idea came when lockdown began. My creative streak exploded with ideas. Firstly I wanted to create a dried flower styled shoot as I couldn’t get ahold of any fresh flowers but, with our dried flower stock selling like crazy, that idea went out the window.
Then local flower farmer Bloom & Gray had posted some bunches of flowers she had for sale. Of course I had to buy two as I was missing fresh flowers so incredibly much and I couldn’t resist getting creative with them. From there the thought of my lockdown styled shoot idea started to form! I contacted UNVEILED Network Member Belle Bijoux event stylists first to see if they were on board and then found a photographer to make sure it was all on camera and photographed beautifully just the way I wanted. After they both replied with a big fat “yes” I got the rest of the amazing suppliers needed to create a beautiful mock wedding setup.
Each supplier dropped off their product over the next 24 hours, all working super hard to gather, make and create it all to fit the brief perfectly. I based the shoot around what I had available to me at home, new trends and on the colour and style of the flowers.
LOCATION
It was great working from home in my garden (although since shooting this weddings do legally have to take place in a public venue) and seeing such a beautiful set up! On styled shoots it can get a little crowded and we can sometimes get chatty and let time escape us. For this shoot I made a list and made sure that each supplier got the shots for their product and more! I’m a people pleaser and know how hard each of us work so each supplier got their very own mini shoot to show off their product to its best potential.
STYLING
I wanted the shoot to be modern with a natural twist. Belle Bijoux provided the backdrop made of different shades of chiffon to match the colour pallet, candle sticks, candles, cutlery and the arch which really made our floral design POP!
The most beautiful cake was made especially for the shoot. Again, all made from scratch in just over 24 hours by the talented Grace Eva Cakes, along with the beautiful favours that sat in the plates perfectly. Yes, those flowers are edible!
We also had stationery from Really Rosie to give it that real wedding look and the perfect finishing touch. There was local wine from Little Wold Vineyard, which of course we just had to taste! Delicious!
And of course, myself! As Floral & Lace, I did the floral design creating stunning table arrangements, a fresh flower bridal statement headdress, the floral arch arrangement and bridal bouquet.
ATTIRE
The dress was a simple yet stunning statement piece with puffy sleeves and clean lines provided by Ghost Orchid Bride by ‘And for Love‘ with brand new earrings by A.B Ellie.
The model was my best friend and had never modelled bridal before but she did for me this one time and boy, did she look beautiful! I cried, of course. It was a bit much seeing your best friend look as gorgeous as she did in the wedding dress, wearing your flowers on her head. I made her this beautiful statement, fresh floral headdress along with a wild and uniquely shaped bridal bouquet.
RESULTS
We kept social distancing in mind at all times. Each supplier simply dropped their product off without getting close. On shoot day, it was just the photographer and model in the garden while I directed from afar. We took it in turns to pop in and out of the set so I could change and perfect things and then Emilia could photograph it.
