Rugged scenery and even rugged-er grooms – we’ve fallen hook, line and sinker for today’s styled shoot at the coast, giving us all the romantic Mr & Mr elopement vibes.
If you and your beau feel the call of the ocean, you won’t want to miss today’s dose of wedding inspo. Photographers and brains behind the concept Nicole and Darren have pulled off a simply stunning shoot, pared back to perfection. The minimal styling and beachy tones of the suits letting love and the almost-tangible connection speak for itself.
Taking their model couple down to the tides edge, Harrogate-based Nicole – who’s been passionate about photography since her grandma put a LOMO 135 VS in her hands at aged 7 – and experienced elopement photographer Darren have totally captured Formby Beach in a whole new light.
Plus, Nicole is currently entered into The Wedding Industry Awards, so watch this space for yet more greatness!

Nicole said: The shoot is called Oceans and Us. Inspired by the love for wedding elopements and those intimate moments, we decided to create a same sex wedding elopement that showcased the raw emotion between two lovers, modelled perfectly by Glen and Tom. Personally, I’m always obsessed with abroad weddings and elopements, and we wanted to showcase a wedding elopement that looks like it was shot abroad – but in reality it’s the ‘Costa Del Formby’!
LOCATION
Me and Darren both had a little look around beaches in the UK that looked like they were from a movie, as we really wanted something different to just your normal beach. Then we came across Formby Beach. A beach with picnic areas, waymarked paths, sand dunes, and woods. The dunes offer breathtaking views across the Irish Seas and even the mountains of Cumbria can be seen if you’re lucky enough.
For a day in February, we were surprised by glorious weather, which made this shoot even more like what we had envisioned. We didn’t use any styling for this, we brought a picnic blanket for our couple to sit on, but that was all.
ATTIRE
The suits were provided by Fallen Hero. We wanted to go with unique suits that were both different colours but worked together. The blue suit contrasting with the more nude suit offered a great comparison, and stood out from the background of Formby Beach.
Fallen Hero was established in 1989 and has continued to be at the forefront of the fashion industry and offering bespoke tailoring instore.
RESULTS
On the day, the shoot went amazing! The couple were an absolute gem to work with, and we all got on so well. I think the best highlight of the day was the weather, for a Sunday in early February we couldn’t have asked for better weather. This completely helped us to achieve our aim of capturing an epic elopement!
