Angie says: I am budding photographic stylist and interior design student and have recently set up an event styling and decorating company. I create and source bespoke decorations to create a coordinated styled look, with lots of interesting details and all the trimmings!

Two people I greatly admire and draw huge inspiration from are the highly successful interiors stylists Selina Lake the author of the beautiful book ‘Romantic Style’ and Emily Chalmers, author of several Flea Market style books and now curator of the brilliant shop Caravan. Just by stealing a little of their style of using soft romantic shapes and textures, vintage and new finds, you can create a stunning look for a wedding or party reception.

How can you not fall for soft faded vintage pinks, peaches and honey and gold colours and super soft silky roses? If your groom is after something a bit more masculine you can limit the pinks and go for white hydrangeas and gorgeous blush roses instead and use a romantic more feminine colour as highlights. Using cut glass vintage items such as decanters or bon bon dishes to hold the flowers or old sherry glasses to house pretty tea lights, you can add bags of charm if your fella is not as mad on bunting or polka dots as you are!

On these table centres designed for a recent Old Fashioned Knees Up wedding we used cut glass bon bon dishes so that the flowers could be lifted out and given to guests to take home after the wedding.

Instead of spending £150 on an A1 print of the table plan, we found a Rococo style reproduction mirror in a second hand store and attached the seating plan to it. This meant a nice new mirror for my home and a bit less printing meant it was more environmentally friendly too.

To add to the romantic theme, a local producer was briefed to create jam and chutney favours for the guests with the labels reading ‘Spread the love’. Guests were also invited to ‘show the ducks some love’ with wild bird seed and directions on how to find the jetty within the grounds of the hotel.
