How did Kerry Blu begin? What is your background?
.
I’d always been passionate about jewellery and fashion ever since I was a young girl. My mother used to design and make her own jewellery. She held lots of jewellery parties when I was a child which I always thought was awfully glamorous and I suppose that is where my interest stems from. I turned my passion into a hobby during my early teens when I dabbled in designing fashion jewellery for myself. It wasn’t until I started planning my own wedding in 2006 that my interested turned from fashion jewellery to bridal jewellery. Not long after my wedding I set about starting my business. Since I started the business it has expanded to not only include handcrafted items but also off the peg select manufactured items and various wedding accessories like handcrafted ring cushions and gents cufflinks. Our ranges continue to expand with us adding more and more designs to the site on a weekly basis.

We heard that you won an industry award recently?
.
Yes we were absolutely thrilled to win the category for best bridal accessories at the North West Wedding Awards 2011. These were hosted by County Brides and attended by over 200 wedding professionals from around the North West at a swanky awards ceremony in Cheshire. What made it even more special was that we were voted for by our customers and brides-to-be and it was lovely also to meet some of our Twitter supplier friends on the night who were also nominated.

What products are available from Kerry Blu. Tell us about them?
.
We have a large range of bridal tiaras, wedding headbands, bridal hair accessories including pins and combs and costume jewellery. Over the years our range has expanded to include not only handcrafted designs but also off the peg designs to suit all styles, tastes and budgets.

Which are your best selling products?
.
Our Vintage Starlet Collection has been hugely popular since we launched it two years’ ago. We have continued to add more items to the collection but our Vintage Starlet Side Headband is probably our best selling headband for brides.

Are some of your products handmade?
.
Yes. A large proportion of our products are designed and handmade in the UK and made to order. These designs can be modified to our customers’ requirements whether they require a different metal finish, crystal colour or extra pearls/crystals, earring fittings etc. All our handcrafted designs are made with Swarovski crystals and pearls and finished in sterling silver.

Which products would you recommend as bridesmaids gifts?
.
Our Divine Pendants and earrings are extremely popular for bridesmaids’ gifts. A lot of our brides ask for these to complement their colour scheme. We think these are appealing because they are a simple contemporary design and something that can be worn after the event. Our Tinkerbell personalised bracelets are also very popular for flower girl gifts.

Which celebrity would you like to see wearing your products and which piece would you choose for them?
.
Somebody beautiful and uber talented like Katherine Jenkins would look stunning wearing our Vintage Starlet Hair Comb.

Which product would you recommend for a bride on budget or if money was no option?
.
.
Our show stopping Vintage Chic Comb is only £44.00, is bang up to date in the style stakes and looks much more expensive in real life. It’s also something that can be worn again to a black tie event or something similar. If money were no object then our Vintage Luxe Headband at £110.00 (our most expensive piece on the site) would be our firm favourite. This looks beautiful, especially on dark haired ladies.

What sets Kerry Blu apart from other bridal online accessory boutiques?

We listen to our customers and don’t just get swept along with the latest craze in the bridal industry. Although we are very passionate about the current trend for all things vintage we also realise that there are still brides who prefer a more traditional hair piece or tiara or a simple diamante headband. We like to think we have something on our site that will appeal to all tastes and budgets.

How far in advance to Brides up North need to order your products?
.
For our handcrafted made to order items we say allow 21 days but most items will be despatched well before then. Off the peg items are despatched 1-3 days from order.

What’s next for Kerry Blu?

We are continuing to expand the range of products available to our brides and lots more exciting lines will be added over the coming months. We have recently designed a “boutique” collection of head pieces for trade only which isn’t available to purchase on the website and are currently looking for more UK bridal shops to stock the Kerry Blu brand.
