This Real Wedding submitted by Jenny & Keith McAvoy Wedding Photographers really warms the cockles.  It’s full of love, laughter and built on friendship, which, once everything else is stripped away, is really the main thing isn’t it?

.

This thought actually reminds me of a beautiful wedding reading from The Velveteen Rabbit, that I can’t help but share (feel free to borrow it!):

.

“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you – and a stick out handle?”  “REAL isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse – “It’s a thing that happens to you.  When a child loves you for a long, long time – not just to play with – but REALLY loves you, then you become real.”  “Does it hurt?” asked the rabbit.  “Sometimes,” said the skin horse – for he was always truthful “When you are REAL, you don’t mind being hurt.”  “Does it happen all at once, like being wound up” he asked – “or bit by bit?”  “It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the skin horse.  -  “You become.  It takes a long time.  That’s why it doesn’t often happen to people who break easily – who sharp edges, or have to be carefully kept.  Generally, by the time you are REAL, – most of your hair has been loved off – your eyes drop out – you get loose in the joints and very shabby.  But these things don’t matter at all, because, once you are REAL you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”  “I suppose you are REAL?” said the Rabbit.  And then he wished he had not said it – for he thought the skin horse might be sensitive – But the skin horse only smiled.  “The Boy’s Uncle made me REAL,” he said.  “That was a great many years ago – but once you are REAL you can’t become unreal again.”

Over to Jenny McAvoy: We met Rosie and Tom at the National Wedding show in October 2010.  We met up for a lovely autumnal engagement shoot in November near their Yorkshire home at East Riddleston Hall and following their viewing they booked us for their wedding. We went up to nosey at their gorgeous venue, Goldsborough Hall, earlier this year and could not wait for the wedding – a truly fabulous venue!

Rosie and Tom met when then went to the same school.  It was also Rosie’s 24th birthday on the day they married so Tom has no excuse for not remembering their anniversary!

Rosie was the most laid back bride I have ever met! She hadn’t even showered half an hour before the ceremony – her poor gran was having kittens! Not surprisingly she was 20 minutes late leaving Tom slightly anxious but it was Rosie that finally let nerves get the better of her by forgetting her own name during the service!  Everyone laughed and that broke the ice – laughing more when the poor best man – Tom ’ s brother Ed, dropped the rings during his big moment.

Ceremony over, everyone retired t o the gorgeous gardens for confetti, champagne and canapés before the gorgeous wedding breakfast. We then had the opportunity to take Rosie and Tom away for some lovely images in the gardens and the honeymoon suite before the evening reception and the fabulous band, Alison Jane’s Chequers. It was a small intimate wedding with just 30 guests but in this case small was definitely beautiful.

Rosie had extra cakes to celebrate her birthday and after the first dance, a surprise for her lovely dad – a special dance with him to a song special to both of them.
