Real bride Louise says: We were married on 16 September 2011 at St Paul’s Catholic Church Hyde, then The Midland Hotel, Manchester. Our venue choice was easy: St Paul’s is my family church (with the most fabulous Priest!) and we love the atmosphere at The Midland.

We went for a hot, hot pink theme, with a dash of monochrome. I fell in love with a gorgeous black and white dress from Berketex called Brooklyn, and my bridesmaids wore hot pink mid length 50s style dresses. The girls all chose their own fabulous matching heels.

I carried a bouquet that I made myself using special jewellery, buttons, hot pink material, roses and gerberas. I also made my bridesmaids’ bouquets from artificial giant gerberas in white, pink and black.

We chose McAvoy Weddings as our photographers who were everything we hoped they would be and more. They blended in so well on the day that our guests thought they were our friends. Apart from that we did most of everything else ourselves.

We continued the pink theme right through to the wedding breakfast, arriving in a candy coloured Rolls Royce, and for our place settings used titles and lyrics from our favourite rock songs. It was an eclectic mix, but I think we pulled it off!

One standout memory will be that my Dad could make it and shared our day. He has been seriously ill over the past year and it was touch and go whether he would be able to walk me down the aisle – he did and we shared a dance too – making me so happy.

My top tip for other Brides Up North is pay extra for those things that are important to you and use wedding blogs for inspiration, discounts and to save money in other areas.
