Here Comes The Bride: A Styled Shoot In The North East

Julia Smith

.

Evening all!  A bit of a later post than usual today due to blog scheduling errors (the spring forward to British Summertime has really had my brain in a twist!), but I bet you don’t mind anyway – you’ve all been out and about in this glorious sunshine that we’ve been treated to haven’t you?  I hope you found the time this weekend to relax and catch some rays.

.

This weekend has been a fun one for me.  It was ’ Wedding Carnival yesterday – a fabulous day filled with bridal inspiration, well done to Kelly and Colette – over in the North West.  I was thrilled to be invited to sponsor the event and had a blast meeting and greeting all you lovely ladies with my friend and beautiful assistant Rachel, who popped along to help me out.

.

Rachel and I had planned to hit the town for some cocktails soon afterwards, but instead called a time out and had a fantastic girly evening on the sofa watching back to back TV talent shows, rounded off with a cheeky dose of Take Me Out and Johnathan Ross and a divine Thai takeaway.  I haven’t properly chilled out in front of the telly for an absolute age, and it was perfect.  A chilled evening plus a huge 10 hour sleep equals one recharged !

.

Whatever your weekend plans have been, I hope you had a good one.

.

Tonight, I’m rounding off a busy week on the wedding blog with a lovey styled bridal shoot sent to me by Kathryn at Opulence Wedding Planning and produced by a team of North East wedding industry suppliers.

.

A lot of the shoots that I feature on are bursting with colour, dripping in detail or a play on a quirky theme as very different or striking visuals are generally what make the blog world spin, but this elegant little shoot is a reminder that  (like my weekend plans!), sometimes it’s just as nice to keep things simple.  I also love that in keeping with the honest and intimate nature of the shoot, the gorgeous bride in these shots is a real woman rather than a stick insect.  Enjoy.

Kathryn of Opulence Wedding Planning says:  When we did this shoot in the middle of January it was a really fun day. I had a great team to work with on the day who were all able to help make my ideas real.

.
I decided to do this shoot to show brides some different ideas for Spring/Summer 2012 and also I wanted to work with a new bridal boutique, Brides & Dreams from Redcar, to show off some of their beautiful dresses.

I wanted the photo shoot to resemble a bride’s pre-wedding photographs before she goes to the ceremony or church – to have a glamorous feel but not so much that it all looked too staged.

.
I would like to thank the amazing Make-Up By Jo, Chocolate Freelance Hair Stylist, Brides & Dreams Redcar, The Studio By Jaymz and The Morritt Hotel.
