Wedding blog reader Anna writes: I would like to keep my wedding colour scheme simple using black and white as a base but don’t want everything to look completely monochrome. Is there a stylish way of adding colour to a monochrome theme?

.

This week it was over to guest blogger Katy of What Katy Did Next to find a solution.  Be inspired!  We hope you like this wedding inspiration board as much as we do Anna!

Katy says: After Brides Up North reader Anna asked for help in adding colour to her monochrome wedding, I picked a very beautiful blush colour to demonstrate how easy it is to feather in colour to a black and white wedding theme. My first thought was bridesmaids – If you are having black bridesmaids dresses you could add a coloured sash or corsage brooch to their dress. My favourite idea is to have the bridesmaids shoes in an eye catching colour, and maybe even something matching in their hair.

.
You can add a dash of colour to your Groom by altering the colour of his tie, socks, cufflinks or have the groomsmen’s ties an alternate colour to your Groom’s black. If you are keeping your dress simple and white you could accessorise with coloured shoes, a coloured ribbon around your bouquet, painted nails – or wear black/white peep toe shoes with your toe nails painted in the shade of your choice. Little flashes of colour can make all the difference.

.
Venue wise the colour could be added in napkins, place cards, chair ribbons or flowers in the centrepieces. A unique idea is to have a signature cocktail made up in a colour to match your theme.

.
If blush or pink is not your style why not go for a stylish a
pple green, tiffany blue, mustard, lemon yellow or Cadbury’s purple – it all depends on your taste and all are very easily swapped in place of the blush inspiration that I have gathered for you.

Remember: the plan is to share a new inspiration board in this time slot every week, either compiled by myself, regular guest blogger Katy or YOU: get in touch with your own ideas and inspiration boards! We’ll be discussing our inspirations behind the images too so it’s simply going to be a whole load of lovely.

.

If you are a little less arty but in need of inspiration and still want to play along, we will also be taking requests for colour schemes and themes and making bespoke boards for my readers. Please contact me to suggest a theme or colour scheme.
