I thought it only fitting that on this weekend devoted to Royal celebrations that I feature a real bride in a Vera Wang gown fit for a princess! And she’s called Catherine too. How frightfully fitting!

Over to Catherine: Richard proposed on Stockley Bridge, Seathwaite, in the Lake District on 8th April 2010. It was so beautiful! We were married on 16th July 2011 at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Lytham St Annes and had the reception and evening do at Lytham Hall.

St. Cuthbert’s Church has been Richard’s family church all his life. Lytham Hall is a beautiful venue and it was important for us to have somewhere locally to get married and make the most of the lovely area we live in. The Gold Room at Lytham Hall is exquisite and it had the perfect feel for our celebration. Furthermore, I adore anything Jane Austen and this venue had Austen written all over it!

My dress was designed by Vera Wang, Eleanor. I was so lucky. I had tried many dresses on before finding “the one”. I had almost come to the decision that this was a myth but sure enough, I knew when I put it on it felt fabulous.

I carried a bouquet of David Austin Patience roses which Jane at Flower Design knew were a perfect as soon as she saw my dress – perfectionist! They were stunning and smelt heavenly. Jane and her team are absolutely fabulous and no detail is left un-thought of. She is a consummate professional and her work is second to none.

I had my eye on a specific dress for my girls which is only sold in London at twobirds Bridesmaid. However, I happened to stumble across the one they wore at John Lewis. It was exactly the same material and look.

We didn’t stick rigidly to a colour scheme as we didn’t want it to look too “twee”. The Groomsmen had deep purple ties, which the flowers tied in with. The Bridesmaids wore black which tied in with the sash on my dress. Apart from that, we just wanted it to look classically beautiful.

It is so difficult to choose one part of the day to say was my favourite. Looking down the aisle and seeing Richard was so exciting and he looked so handsome!

We hired a classic Rolls Royce Phantom to travel on the day which was a gorgeous way to travel and a wonderful way for Richard and I to spend our first time alone as husband and wife! So special!

Jonny Draper Photography was fantastic with us on the day but also with the build up to the big day. He made us feel so relaxed, happy and the photos are incredible! He is a true professional!

All of our stationary (invitations to table places) was beautifully handmade by Katy Kirkham who also handmade our table plan by sewing details onto the plan. Everything looked stunning!

Rowley’s Catering provided the wedding breakfast. They saw that everything was done to an exceptional standard and offer more of a wedding planning service than just catering. The food was outstanding!

My brother luckily has many musically talented friends so during the day, his friend Ash Parkinson, played the guitar which gave the perfect background music and atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the canapés and wedding breakfast.

We decided to have a cheese cake (made up of three different local cheeses) which handily doubled as part of the evening food. We both are not mad cake fans and this looked fab and a bit unusual.

In the evening we had a band called The Coolers. They were brilliant and had everyone on the dance floor until they had finished their set!

.
After the wedding, we took a last minute getaway to Egypt. We found a couples resort that was perfect. We chose this as we were only going for a week and didn’t want to spend lots of time travelling.

My top for other Brides Up North would be that planning in advance is key but once the hard work has all been done, you can enjoy the most special day of your life!
