This afternoon’s gorgeous sunny engagement shoot from the wilds of Yorkshire comes to you from Brides Up North reader Michelle and courtesy of John Hope Photography.
.
And whadd’ya know?! (At the time of writing) it is actually sunny in Yorkshire! Knock me down with a feather.
.
Happiness must be catching. Have a lovely afternoon all!

Michelle says: We got engaged at Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire, which is an amazing place, and it’s always been special to us. Larry used to go there as a child, and took me there when we first met. It’s part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and incredible to look at. We’d been together nine years, so it was about time! But it was a surprise on the day – Larry took me to a lookout point over the valley, and got down on one knee. Then, after we both cried, I said yes!

We got married at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate on the 5th of April, 2012. It had such a lovely relaxed feeling about the place, and the staff were amazing at making the day special to us.

We met through a friend in 2001, while I was at University in Leeds, where Larry is from. He’d come round to the house a lot to see everyone, but was always extra nice to me; bringing me little gifts and food shopping, which as a student, I loved!

I took him on our first date to a Mexican restaurant in Leeds called Cuban Heels. The food was so spicy we could barely talk without our eyes watering, it was so funny! But we did talk and talk all night, and had such a laugh. I knew he was one to keep! He was very cute and romantic too.

I knew that he was the one almost straight away, from spending time together by ourselves without the rest of our housemates around. He has the ability to make me laugh so much that I cry, as well as being thoughtful and caring at the same time.
.
We make each other laugh every day.

Our biggest wish for married life is to be as happy as we have been for the last ten years, and to reach our diamond wedding anniversary still as much in love as we are today.

We chose to have an engagement shoot as we thought it’d be a great way to relax ourselves into having our photos taken, and to get to know our photographer, John Hope Photography, who was absolutely amazing.
.
We really enjoyed shoot, it made us look forward to and get excited about the day itself. I definitely felt more relaxed knowing what it was going to be like. We’re going to use the photographs as part of our story in our wedding album.

I’m a fan of Brides Up North because I love the images and advice – it gave me lots of great ideas along the way. We’ll be back very soon to share our Real Wedding photographs too, without a doubt. John really captured the day perfectly, I just want to go back and do it all over again!
