I’m still on location with Thomson Weddings in Cyprus taking part in a two day video shoot (someone’s got to do it!) but looking ahead to next week, if you are searching for your dream dress then I have an invitation to the perfect event for you! Friend of Brides Up North, British designer Erica Stacey will be at Manchester’s newest bridal boutique, Isla Jean, THIS THURSDAY 12th July.
.
The Evening will be a great opportunity to meet Erica Stacey and the team at Isla Jean, view the ‘Ready to Wear’ collection and enjoy a glass of Fizz. There will be goodie bags and the chance to win some great prizes! You can also chat to Erica if you are looking for a bespoke couture gown.

Vicky and Gemma at Isla Jean told me: Erica Stacey bridal wear launched in January 2012 and is going from strength to strength. It is owned by British designer Erica Stacey and Terry Keane, who are passionate about keeping the British clothing manufacturing industry alive. Both have a shared love of the history of fashion and Erica has also been inspired by her Grandmother ‘Nanna Ellen’, who made dresses for Harrods in the 1940’s.

The company is based in Manchester and all the dresses are hand crafted with love and care in their studio. Each dress is made with quality silks and fabrics and finished with unique and individual trims & laces. The first ‘Ready to Wear’ collection is vintage inspired which fits perfectly with Isla Jean’s beautiful vintage inspired boutique. The collection takes inspiration from the Art Deco Movement and the Golden Age of Hollywood Glamour.

In September 2011, by chance, we were given the opportunity to buy a wedding dress business complete with stock. It took just three days to complete the deal and whilst friends and family thought we had gone mad, we were determined to follow our dream and knew we could make it work.
.
We rented a little space in a vintage warehouse with no heating and started to sell dresses! The business very quickly gathered pace and we were overwhelmed with the speed at which our business was growing and the positive feedback we were getting from brides.

We decidewe that if we could make this little space work (especially in view of the fact that it had no heating!) then it was time to take the plunge and actually look for premises of our own! Several months on, we finally found the perfect shop.

We have spent time sourcing the designers which we feel fit the look and the style of Isla Jean Bride. We have also put our own stamp on the boutique and have been busy decorating and sourcing individual pieces to furnish the store. We believe that we have created a boutique which is opulent, stunning but yet homely and relaxed: a truly special place. We want brides to come in and feel special, beautiful and relaxed. Both of us believe that when a bride comes to the shop they feel like a princess for the day.

We chose to stock Erica Stacey bridal wear because not only do the gowns feel and look vintage but because we share the same business ethos and passion. We are happy to be supporting a local UK based business, a British designer and helping to pass on Erica’s dream dresses to brides who have fallen in love with them…
.
The team would love to welcome you to the Isla Jean Bridal Boutique at 67 High Street, Lees Village, Oldham on Thursday 12th July 2012 from 6pm. Call Vicky and Gemma on 0161 622 1010 for more details.
