Morning all! Did you have a nice weekend?
.
How many of you finally tied the knot over the past two days? Huge congratulations if you are celebrating becoming a Mrs this morning! For those of you that are still counting down, I have some fabulous features lined up on the wedding blog this week, including the launch of a second season of Wedding SOS posts. Watch out for fun, frills and frank advice coming your way.
.
Let’s kick things off with a cute bridal shoot put together by a collective of North East wedding industry suppliers sent to me by Kathryn of Opulence Wedding Planning.
.
I’m very excited to be working with Grace The Weddings Co on a special outfit for The North of England Wedding Awards later this year (I’m hosting the gala dinner and awards ceremony event – eep!), so it’s lovely to see some of their designs looking absolutely stunning in today’s images. Check out the Little Black Book at the end of the feature to visit the web pages of the other talented contributors too.

Kathryn says: I decided to plan and organise a 1950’s inspired shoot, but with a modern twist to show that you can take elements of the1950’s era but then bring them into the 21st Century.
.
I came across Lickety Split Ice Creamery whilst searching for a 1950’s American diner, and I thought it would be perfect to use as it has the authentic 1950’s American feel, with the vintage sundae’s and floats that they create, but it also felt very modern with the new and innovative flavours that they were using.

All of the staff and the owner, Cindy, of Lickety Split were very helpful and kind to all who were involved in the shoot, and we managed to get some great shots of the ice creamery and some of the items on their menu!

The photography for this shoot was done by a new photographer called David Hill Photography from Middlesbrough. He has created and edited some amazing vintage style shots of the morning back in June. He really understood the brief for the day, and had some brilliant idea’s of how we could best photograph the dresses, hair, make-up and the location of Lickety Split itself.

Grace The Weddings Co let me use some of they’re amazing couture dresses, called ‘Grace Couture’. They are all influenced by the 1950’s, but not too much so they still have the modern edge to them, such as with a low cut back, an over sized flower on the waist or an extra piece on the back of the dress to add a ‘bouffant’.

Jo Leversuch from Make Up By Jo created some amazing make-up for this shoot, using bold block colours on the eyes and lips of the models but with bold eye liner that is associated with icons from the 1950’s such as Marliyn Monroe and Jane Mansfield.
.
The hair styling created by Sami Nash at Vintage Tinsel is very innovative. The brief for the shoot was 1950’s with a modern twist, and the hair styles that she created fitted it perfectly. Using recognisable styles such as the bold curls, but gave it a modern twist by gathering them all on the top of the models head, I think all three of the stylists help bring my visions to life of creating a non-standard 1950’s shoot in 2012!
