As regular Brides Up North readers will know, I have latterly made it my business (it’s a hard life…) to connect with the big name designers in the wedding fashion industry, find out more about their design processes, inspirations and life behind the scenes at the top bridal design houses. After my Real Wedding features – which will always be a top priority here at Brides Up North (keepin’ it real!) – the Designer Series and Eye Candy features are my absolute favourites to put together. After all, I once fancied a career in the fashion World myself.

I know a huge favourite with my readers – hello you – is the lovely Ms.Jenny Packham, and it is with great excitement that I am able to share a sneak preview of the bridal brand’s 2014 Spring/ Summer collection with you today on the wedding blog. Jenny Packham says: The 2014 Bridal Collection is inspired by the Belle Époque era of the early 20th Century. A statement of romantically soft, feminine design, the collection encapsulates the spirit of Edwardian style and the Art Nouveau movement which defined it. The Belle Epoque or ‘beautiful era’ transformed fashion, abandoning restrictive corsetry and creating the flowing silhouette ever since associated with the Age of Elegance.

Intricate, light beading, delicate embellishment and clean, understated silhouettes play homage to an Edwardian inspiration, whilst romantically volumous ballerina skirts, graceful tulle sleeves and elegantly exposed backs bring to mind a very modern bride, evoking scenes of a chic European destination wedding.
