Brides Up North Featured Supplier Nicola of Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe has always had an eye for the beautiful, different and divine – and always manages to pull off her projects with aplomb.
That’s why, when she told me that she was teaming up with the lovely Sharon Lomas of For The Love Of Vintage, Bethany Jane Davies of The Vintage Beauty Parlour and And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon, Didsbury to create fabulous vintage themed hen events, I knew that we could chuck out those tacky L plates for good.
I couldn’t wait to share the news of this classy and chic venture from a very talented group of Northern wedding industry suppliers on the pages of the blog.
Sharon of For The Love Of Vintage says: An Era of Experience brings a sense of vintage style to today’s modern hen party, combining themed craft workshop activities with a beauty parlour and afternoon tea. Our parties are ideal for hen’s of all ages, inclusive for younger & older family members.
The craft workshops are accessible for all levels of sewing experience, so absolute beginners need not fear. These workshops can be a general vintage theme or can be specific to a chosen era such as 1920’s Flappers, 1930’s Hollywood Sirens or 1950’s Rockerbilly – 1920s & 1950s remain the firm favourites with our hens.
We can also theme a beauty parlour workshop – all hens get a master class in either 1920’s Smokey Eyes, 1930’s perfect Hollywood Pout or the perfect beehive while the bride to be gets full hair & make-up.
No Era event would be complete without a fabulous afternoon tea served on vintage & antique china. Hen’s choose from a menu of baked delights which includes choice of three sandwiches, chocolate dipped strawberries, scones with clotted cream & jams, a choice of three cakes plus tea & coffee.
The Era team travels to the client’s venue be it at home, in an apartment or hotel, holiday cottages – we’ve even done one in a vintage dress boutique in Leeds! Great fun!
We are a team of four vintage loving local businesses that decided to collaborate to create a perfect vintage event for any bride to be.
Our team is award winning too with Bethany Jane Davies winning "Best Vintage Hair & Make up" and myself (she blushes) winning "Best Vintage Events Supplier" at the 2012 Vintage Manchester Awards.

Our price is £60 per person (+ travel costs) and the Era parties last approx. 4 hours, but we don’t have a stop watch. We have some connections to Manchester venues too with hen parties booking with us getting discounted room rates at The Place Apartment Hotel & The Didsbury Parsonage. We travel mainly across the North West, North Wales, Derbyshire, Yorkshire & Cumbria but will go further afield if clients are happy to cover travel costs.
