As this morning’s Wedstock wedding in Sheffield (click here to catch up) proves nicely, a proper celebration needs a good party. Yes, your big day is all about the two of you, but it’s also about all those family and friends who have supported and loved you enough to get you to this day. Go on, give them room to dance!
Brides Up North Featured Supplier Tracey of Warble Entertainment knows all about good music, good fun and good times, and is here to lend a helping hand with your right Northern knees up!
Even better, Warble Entertainment can offer 10% off the booking deposit if the Brides Up North code (BUN001) is mentioned at the time of enquiry.
What is the story behind the business and your background?
Tracey says: Warble Entertainment Agency launched in 2007 and was set-up by myself and Matt. We’d both worked in the entertainment sector previously but took a year out to go travelling. We realised while we were away that we made a really good team and wanted to work together. So, sitting in a tiny van one rainy afternoon in New Zealand we got to talking about what we could do when we got back home and after brainstorming and pooling our experience and strengths decided that an entertainment company would be a great endeavour. My own background was PR and Events while Matt had worked in the industry as a performer and also studied for 2 degrees, one in Music and the other in Law. The more we chatted about the idea (and the pad and pens came out!) the more it just felt right. We believed that we not only had the right background to start a company like Warble but we also had the enthusiasm and passion to make it relevant, exciting and different.
What does Warble Entertainment do?
Warble Entertainment is a booking agency where anybody can hire live bands and entertainers for weddings, parties, corporate events, festivals, anniversaries… pretty much anything and everything. However, our specialty is weddings and we currently provide wedding entertainment to more than 4,000 brides and grooms each year.
Where are you based and what areas do you cover?
Warble Entertainment is based in Cheshire, but with our roster of bands, musicians and entertainers being spread all over the country we are able to cater for weddings and events UK wide. We also cover Europe and have provided many happy couples with wedding entertainment in France, Italy, Spain and many other beautiful destinations.
Why should Brides Up North use Warble Entertainment?
Warble Entertainment is an entertainment agency with personality. We are a team who genuinely want to try and make your wedding entertainment amazing! We understand that many of our customers have never hired a band before, or, don’t understand what a caricaturist is and so we want to make the whole process as easy and enjoyable as possible. We understand how hard it is to plan and organise a wedding and so if we can make this part of it straightforward and stress-free then we have achieved one of the things that we set out to do. In addition, we pride ourselves on our customer service and believe that we work with the best talent the UK has to offer.
How can Brides Up North use your website to help find their wedding entertainment?
The best thing about the website is that it is fun and simple to use. It is very easy to navigate and once you’re in the right place it has all the info you need. So, if you are looking for a band for your wedding we have full comprehensive band profiles, which include pictures, MP3’s, playlists, FAQ’s, videos and feedback from previous clients.
Can you help Brides Up North to find an act to suit their requirements?
We love weddings and we especially love it when a bride and groom ask for our help. We have so many different types of entertainment so whether they are looking for stylish and romantic, or, fun and quirky we are more than happy to offer no obligation help, advice and ideas with regards to bespoke packages suitable for their theme or personality.
What happens once a bride and groom have chosen an act?
We have made this part of the process just as simple as the rest. We handle all the paperwork and liaise between the bride and groom and their chosen act’s to make sure everything is booked and in place. The bride and groom simply have to sign the paperwork to confirm the information is correct and pay a deposit. They then speak directly to the act 3-4 weeks before the big day to fine tune any last minute details.
Tell us about the range of musical acts available to book via Warble Entertainment?
The range of musical acts represented by Warble Entertainment is extensive to say the least. We quite literally have something for everyone, from Classical String Quartets and Harpist that perform everything from Mozart to Metallica, to acoustic 1920s jazz bands right through to rock and pop wedding bands that perform music from the 1950s to present day, including soul and Motown! We also have lots of quirky and themed acts such as mariachi bands, tribute acts, medieval musicians, retro vintage bands and much more!
We tend to find that different types of acts come in and out of fashion. So at the moment, because of the Great Gatsby film in 2013, 1920’s theme bands are very much in fashion. Also, many brides and grooms are going for festival theme weddings so rock and pop bands, and, especially the Mumford and Sons style, are extremely popular.
Are your bands and DJ’s recommended by you personally? How do you select bands to promote?
We try and see as many of the acts as possible and we hold regular showcase events for this. We also have a strict vetting process and an artist sign up department that has procedures in place to make sure all the acts are of the highest standard to represent the agency.
What other acts do you represent?
As well as live music we have lots of different types of acts from caricaturists, magicians, stilt walkers, jugglers, fire performers, living statues, walkabout trees and even a giant snow globe! Chances are if we haven’t got it then it doesn’t exist… yet!
What would be your top five tips for Brides Up North when choosing their wedding entertainment?
1. Do it! We receive so much feedback from brides and grooms on a weekly basis saying how the band or entertainer was the highlight of their day. We guarantee your guests will remember the entertainment more than the invitation, favours or food!
2. Always check before you book your venue that it’s going to be suitable for the type of entertainment you require. If you want to end your big day in style with a rocking live wedding band then making sure the venue doesn’t have any sound limitations that could potentially interfere with the performance is a great place to start.
3. If you are on a strict budget then consider booking out of peak season – you can often receive big discounts for bands if your wedding is in Oct-Nov and Jan-Feb.
4. Book in advance! Many of our bands will get booked up 12-18 months in advance and we always get lots of panicky brides and grooms who try to book a couple of months before who are very disappointed when they can’t get their 1st or even 4th or 5th choice band because they have already been snapped up.
5. Always check the terms and conditions of your booking – especially if you decide to book an act directly without the security of an agency as you will want a good idea of your options should they need to cancel last minute.
Which acts would you recommend where money was no object?
If money was no object we could provide a non-stop entertainment experience for the whole day, which would blow all the guests minds! One of the most memorable, show-stopping and romantic acts we have is the giant snow globe! It is a huge real–life snow globe and inside two acrobats perform a stunning and mesmerising routine to beautiful music. They can change the theme so it can be suitable for weddings all year round. It’s one of the most magical and unique acts we offer.
What about for brides on a budget?
We have lots of fantastic ideas for brides on a budget. One of the most popular at the moment is to book a caricaturist during the drinks reception. This works really well as they are not only extremely entertaining to watch but it is also creates a unique favour idea for guests.
How does your pricing work?
The pricing completely depends on the act, time of year and location. No two acts are the same and so prices will vary. It’s good to be honest with your budget and often we’ll try and find a range of acts that come under, meet it and are slightly over so you have the choice and can compare.
What about insurance?
We provide a comprehensive booking contract with full terms and conditions and we require all of our acts to have public liability insurance.
