Here at Brides Up North we may have mentioned one, or two (hundred) times that we absolutely love the autumn season. As such, when this stunning styled shoot inspired by the time of the year when the days shorten and golden leaves fall from the trees landed in our inbox, we just had to share it with you, our lovely readers.

Providing perfect inspiration for those of you planning an autumnal wedding later this year or next, this shoot, organised by Ilaria of Ilaria Petrucci Photography, features beautiful ideas for décor, floral designs and attire, using

warming colours

and textures that work in harmony with the season.

To explain why it’s so easy to fall for an autumn wedding, and to fill us in on details of the shoot, we’ll hand over to the lady behind the lens…

ilaria says:

I love autumn. Perhaps because I was born in October, so I like to think of myself as a fall-child. The light, the colors, the atmosphere, everything about it is absolutely gorgeous!

That said, a lot of people dislike this season as they see it as a dark and grey time of year, when everything is dying back. I don’t see it that way though, instead I see a burst colour and energy, change, new opportunities and growth.

I will admit that I’m not a huge fan of the dark days that come with the season though, and so this was in part the inspiration for the shoot. I wanted to bring softness to slightly dim the strong, bright colours of yellow and red often associated with the season, whilst also brightening up the darkness of the shorter days with light.

In terms of styling we opted for simplicity, with a few signature details. I often believe that less is more and so we wanted to keep details simple and delicate to complement the romantic and elegant setting of Froyle Park.

Gwenda, from The Vintage Floral Design Co, and Lou, from Beyond Vintage, worked their magic with flower arrangements and props to achieve the desired look. I loved how Gwenda translated my idea into her florals creations. The soft pinks mixed with the deeper reds created the perfect contrast while keeping it very soft and romantic, just how I like it! She used hydrangea, roses, snowberries, kangaroo paws and foraged foliage to create a large, informally-structured bouquet and a statement table centerpiece.

To finish the indoor setting, Alex from Vintage Rose Cupcakes, created a three-tier stacked cake with two tiers of white lace icing and a golden middle tier, complete with floral decoration.

The dress for our lovely model was supplied by Karen, from Rock the Frock Bridal Boutique. Again, the dress completely complemented the styling and the romantic feel we were after. A beautifully elegant lace top and a floaty and soft skirt, perfect for a romantic and free-spirited bride.

For the hair and makeup, Liz Patey, created a soft and elegant look. Warm golds and soft chocolate shades were used to contour the eyes, with individual lashes for extra pop and a soft rose lip colour.

The hair was styled into soft curls and pinned up loosely keeping texture and volume to the style. Later the hair was unpinned for a soft, voluminous and tousled effect, with a stronger pink lip colour to complement flowers in the hair.

Shoots days are always loads of fun and full of ‘wow’ moments. To see your vision come to life on the day, with the help of a great team, it’s always a great feeling.

Our aim was to capture the idea of a soft autumn wedding, replacing the strong yellow and reds of autumn with softer shades of reds, pinks and white for that lighter and more romantic feel, and I couldn’t be happier with what we achieved!
