This morning on the blog we are heading to the North East to relive the big day of Sarah and Richy.
We are obsessed with all things pastel and so adore Sarah’s soft and sugary choice of colour scheme which features in the gorgeous blooms, bridesmaid dresses and cake. All so delicate and delightful!

Richy proposed on a holiday in Mexico 2014. The holiday started off a little sour due to me losing my case as it didn’t arrive off the flight, but all was made better by Richy proposing on our first night. He did it during a card trick – the big reveal being an engagement ring placed on the balcony of our room. I was thrilled. Our wedding date was 6th February 2016. We were hoping for a nice crisp, cold day with blue skies but ended up with drizzle, not that it put a dampener on our day. We got married at Immaculate Heart of Mary church, Sunderland, and had our wedding reception at Lumley Castle.

When it came to styling the wedding we wanted a delicate pastel theme with pastel pinks, pastel greens, ivory and blue.
My dress was Justin Alexander from Just Perfect in Shotton Colliery. I had searched the internet and the dress I eventually chose was the first dress I ever tried on. I fell in love with it. It was ivory with a light gold material underneath which made the ivory lace really stand out. The jewel and diamanté detailing on the V-shape back was beautiful and everyone was very complimentary about my dress. The ladies in Just Perfect were so helpful, it made dress buying such an easy experience.
Makeup artist Kimmy Cattin did my wedding makeup and Jane from Teased did my hair.

Richy’s suit and the groomsmen’s suits were from Just Perfect menswear.
The bridesmaid dresses were by Mark Lesley from Amore Brides, Sunderland, and the flower girl dress was from Next.

We wanted traditional wedding cars so we hired from Crozier Cars Sunderland. Michael the owner, and the drivers were excellent.

Ross Martin of RGM Photo was our photographer. He was amazing from our engagement shoot to having our photos uploaded onto our own personal online gallery. He was full of great ideas, and we couldn’t be happier with our photos. We would recommend him to anyone who needs a photographer for any occasion.
We also had our wedding filmed by Chris and Janet Hughes, of One Digital Image. This is a must for anyone who wants lasting memories of their day. They did a same day edit for us, it was so emotional watching it back. You can relive the day whenever you like. We can’t wait to see our final edit.

Our bouquets and flowers were made by the talented Karen of Floral Elegance, Sunderland. She was so helpful in helping me with flower choices and taking material samples in order to get the closest match shade of flower so everything was coordinated.
Blooms Florist, based at Chester Le Street, did our table flower arrangements for Lumley Castle. I told them what flowers I was having in my bouquet and they matched them perfectly.

As favours I bought chocolate hearts and wrapped them in cellophane with little ‘just married’ labels on from eBay. These were just a little something and they looked fab.
As thank you gifts for my bridesmaids we bought little rose gold Ted Baker stud earrings and for the groomsmen we bought personalised whiskey glasses.
Our wedding cake was three tiers, made up of vanilla sponge, chocolate sponge and fruit cake. It was made by Emma Goldsmith Cake Designs. It tasted delicious. I gave her a picture of a cake I liked and she recreated it exactly how we wanted it. The guests loved it too.
The wedding breakfast at Lumley Castle was beautiful. We had cream of vegetable soup, chicken in tarragon sauce and sticky toffee pudding. The food was plentiful and the service was excellent. Compliments to the chef and the Lumley Castle waiting staff!

Our night time entertainment was provided by Redwings, who we booked through AMV Live Music. AMV were brilliant in sending us lots of suggestions for our tastes in music. We found it helpful to go to the Battle of the Wedding Bands events they do. We even won a bottle of Moët Chandon in the raffle! Redwings were brilliant on the night and we used their DJ service which kept everyone dancing until the early hours.

We would definitely recommend Lumley Castle to any bride and groom. Our toastmaster Keith was amazing, he put us at ease throughout the day. The staff couldn’t do enough for us either. The grounds provide an amazing backdrop for photographs, even when it’s raining!
Looking back we couldn’t possibly select a favourite part of the day – we enjoyed every second and would do it all again in a heartbeat!

After the wedding we had a day’s rest then went on our honeymoon. We had four nights in Dubai, followed by ten nights in Mauritius. It was the best time we have ever had. Just enjoying married life in our own little wedding bubble. Mauritius was stunning! We stayed at the LUX Grande Gaube. The staff, resort and food were excellent. Absolute paradise!
My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to enjoy every minute of planning and the day itself. It goes so quick but it’s the best day of your lives!
