We all know that while wedding planning can be a fun and exciting, it can also be a daunting and stressful task, which is why having an expert to help can really lighten the big day load.

Contrary to what some may think, hiring a wedding planner doesn’t mean a couple are left out of the decision-making, but instead the bride and groom-to-be work with a professional who knows the industry like the back of their hand to piece together their perfect big day, saving time, and in some cases money, along the way.

Tell us a little about your background and how you came to set up Silver Sixpence Weddings?

justine says:

As long as I can remember I’ve always loved planning! Whether it’s been a party, corporate event, holiday or wedding. Over the years I’ve helped many friends, family and even the odd work colleague plan their special day. Before starting my new business I worked various organisational/planning roles, however these were never as fulfilling as my passion for wedding planning – for me was the best thing ever.

After having my little boy I decided it was the right time for me to do the one thing that I have wanted to do all my life and that was to become a wedding planner. After lots of research in to the wedding industry, hard work and planning Silver Sixpence Weddings became a reality.

Do you offer full planning packages or can couples opt to just use one or two services, such as venue search assistance?

I do offer a full planning package, however this I know is not necessarily for everyone. That’s why I offer a number of services, including venue and supplier searches as well as on the day management to ensure the smooth running of the day from the bride and groom’s perspective. As I’m independent anything can be tailored to suit each and every couple. I can even help the bride to find her perfect dress!

Do you offer your services nationwide or just in a particular area?

At this moment in time my clients are Yorkshire based, however I’m more than happy to travel to any couples that require my help.

What is it that you love about working in the wedding industry?

I love all the different people that I meet in my job. These people enable and help me to create a wedding that’s as individual as my couples’ personalities. Creating ideas with them and seeing them come to fruition is truly amazing. What could be any better than being involved in the best day of someone’s life?

What do you find are the top reasons that couples hire a wedding planner?

There are so many factors nowadays that couples are turning to wedding planners to help give them that one perfect day. Time seems to be one of the biggest factors in couples deciding to hire a wedding planner. Not everyone understands just how much time you actually need to plan a wedding. For many people I have found that the stress of managing a wedding budget also leads to couples sourcing a wedding planner. And for some it’s having someone who has the vision and knowledge of sourcing the right supplier or venue to help bring their dream day together.

How do you interact with your clients during the planning process?

I use many forms of contact. I prefer face to face as it helps me get to know my couples and they also get to know me. But I’m more than happy to speak on the phone, Skype or email. In today’s busy society it’s better to be available for contact through various platforms. I like my couples to be reassured that they can always get in touch with me.

What can couples who use your services expect?

All my couples can expect to enjoy the wedding planning process without any of the accompanying stress that planning a wedding can bring. It’s important to me that my couples feel relaxed and trust that they are in safe hands. I bring meticulous organisation, passion and flair to create a wonderful day.

What is the feedback like from brides and grooms that have used your services?

I’m not one to blow my own trumpet but I have had some truly wonderful feedback from my couples. Being told that you are “amazing” and “a godsend” is the best. Then I know that I have not only done my job, but that I have done my job well. What is your idea of the perfect wedding?

The perfect wedding is different for every individual couple. But what really makes it special for me is organising a day which truly reflects the two people that are getting married. Whether, that’s being surrounded by everyone that they know or just with family and close friends. It could be a huge affair or something small and understated, it’s all about them and how they envisage their perfect day!
