The glorious Peak District provides the backdrop to today’s exquisite wedding.
Tying the knot in a beautiful Victorian pavilion at the stunning Cubley Hall, Nancy and Liam followed this up with a reception in the venue’s charming barn, adorned with twinkling lights, daisies and a nod or three to their love for maps and travelling.
Nancy shares all the wonderful details here from their special day…

We got engaged on 3 August 2014 in the Peak District. We went for a long walk and a picnic. Liam said he would take a photo of us looking out over the view and sat behind me. He then commented “that’s a good picture” – but the photo was of him, with ‘will you marry me’ on the back of his t-shirt! He then got down on one knee. It was all very romantic and I have that picture to keep forever now!We got married on 29 May 2016 at Cubley Hall in Penistone as we wanted a date during the school holidays. I loved the venue – it boasts a stunning countryside location with a beautiful barn, and is well priced too.

Our wedding had a map print and swallow bird theme. I love maps, travelling and swallow birds so it was the perfect combination.
We chose a pastel green colour scheme. This is my favourite colour and it has a lovely springtime, vintage feel and worked beautifully with the venue’s rustic backdrop.

I bought my wedding dress from Lulu Mae Bridalwear – an elegant white gown with intricate lace detailing. The groomsmen’s grey suits were purchased from Next and the bridesmaids’ dresses were also from the high street, from Oasis.

We booked James Shaw Photography – he did a fantastic job and captured all the precious moments from our day, including some beautiful outdoors shots.

For my bouquet, I opted for a yellow, white and green combination of daisies, gypsophila and gerbera, provided by Monica F Hewitt Florists. We also decorated the venue with these and I made all of my own little jars for them to go in.

For our table favours, we had sweets and homemade candles in jars with shallows on them.
We had a two-tiered plain cake with shallows on top, supplied by Poppies Bakehouse. All the food and wine was provided by the venue.

During the day, a string trio provided the background music at our outdoors ceremony and drinks reception. My dad and friend – otherwise known as Nice and Cheese – then provided the disco in the evening.
As a special touch, my friends made our map print post box, a love story chalk board and also a selfie board.

Lauren O’Hara did our hair and make-up, she was extremely professional and such a calming influence on the day!

We would definitely recommend Cubley Hall; the wedding coordinator was fantastic, the venue was good value for money – and then there are the stunning views over the Peak District! The ceremony was my personal highlight; the string trio made it something extra special.

We went to Sorrento on our mini moon after the wedding. Then in August, we visited Dublin, New York, Boston and Toronto for our main honeymoon. Lots of exploring and not much relaxing!

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be, don’t stress about all the small touches and details – no one really notices these and people will have fun, no matter what!
