If you’re crushing on the idea of hosting a tipi wedding then today’s styled shoot is especially for you!
Led by Roanna from Cheshire-based wedding and events business Tipi Unique – she teamed up with talented wedding photographer Sarita White to create this whimsical outdoors shoot, which perfectly captures the essence of what makes a tipi wedding just so magical – just wait until you see the sunset pics!
The beautiful Moo Meadow – a farm come wedding venue in Derbyshire -provides the ever so pretty backdrop, with its countryside setting and rolling meadows working perfectly with the shoot’s wild boho vibes.
We have to mention the fabulous styling, with twinkling lights, glass globes, branches, pheasant feathers and plenty of botanical and floral touches that really bring the space to life. And as for the bride and groom – they embodied the shoot’s free-spirited vibes and then some – with edgy wedding day attire dominated by lace, a jewel palette and a smattering of earthy tones, too.

: We had the pleasure of working alongside photographer, Sarita White at our clients’ weddings and open days, so knew that she had incredible talent. We were both keen to create something independently and were actually in the midst of organising a wedding fair with Moo Meadow, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to tie the two events together, resulting in this styled shoot!
The shoot embodied all that is offbeat and whimsical – it captured everything from the stunning scenery and romantic tablescapes, to the love, laughter, and memories shared at any unique tipi wedding.
We were looking for a blank canvas and Sarita was aware of local farm Moo Meadow, which was moving into the wedding industry and we agreed it would be perfect for what we were looking for, as well as a good way of promoting a new venue.
Moo Meadow is a gorgeous upcoming wedding and events venue based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The tipis were set amongst the rolling countryside, wild meadows, and peaceful surroundings, which couldn’t have been more perfect for our whimsical boho shoot. We also love that it gives gems of inspiration to clients looking to create a DIY countryside wedding – outdoor celebrations are just as beautiful (if not more!) than your traditional castle or stately home nuptials.
One of the tables had a rustic stag theme, including lots of warm elements; candlelight and wood featuring heavily. A ‘tree-like’ table centre took centre stage with manzanita branches draped in lots of glass globes. Mounted on a large tree stump, the flowers were seasonal varieties in an eclectic mix of bright colours featuring velvety dahlias.
Details throughout included rich textures of guinea fowl and pheasant feathers, berries, ribbons and twigs. The place names were little jewel coloured cards with rustic stag emblems. ‘Mr and Mrs’ wooden signs for the back of two chairs had cute, playful details with torn fabric ribbons, and more twigs and feathers.
The head garlands followed the wild, boho theme with whimsical clusters of bright, jewel coloured blooms and birch twisted throughout the designs. Tied with leather and fabric ribbons – they added a fun, stand out alternative for the adventurous bride.
A second boho luxe botanical inspired table offered a more muted colour palette with soft tones of grey, blue and silvery foliage used throughout. Geometric table centre shapes were used as a base for many varieties of eucalyptus, lisianthus and hydrangea, with a long garland type arrangement running the length of the centre table – all supplied by Red Door Design. A linen runner was used beneath to anchor and add detail. Toile chair drapes with tied silver ribbon linked and completed the pared down look for this table alternative.
The vibe created for both models was a wild and carefree boho and offbeat style. Makeup artist Natalie Flewitt achieved a very bold and unorthodox, yet gorgeous make up look on our lovely bride Millie. It celebrated being a little rough around the edges, “I’ve spent all day having fun at a festival” kind of feel.
Sarita picked out a beautiful two-piece lace dress – it emulated a youthful and bohemian style which was entirely different from that of any traditional ball gowns or fish tail dresses. With the help of Red Floral’s whimsical headdress, the whole look echoed an enchanting, earthy, and adventurous style, whilst still focusing on being free-spirited and fresh.
Our groom, David, looked very dapper dressed in a suit, and the inclusion of his rolled up trouser legs, brown hat, and braces broke all traditions and complemented our bride’s attire perfectly.
Our tipis had been set up previously and we drove back to the venue to complete the dressing and add any finishing touches before the shoot began. There was a fabulous buzz around the site, everyone was getting excited and working together as a team to ensure that everything went to plan (all apart from a very uncooperative, yet very cute, calf – but we’ll let him off)! Sarita has an amazing eye, so although we had a number of snaps planned, there were also many improvised shots and lots of prop rearranging until we had exhausted every single pose and angle.
Some of our absolute favourite pictures feature our naked tipi – both the sunset and twilight shots are just magical! We dressed it as a stargazing come chill-out zone, and it looked fabulous with such a cosy and enchanting atmosphere. Other incredible shots included the addition of smoke bombs and a gorgeous vintage truck, both of which would add a fun, rustic twist to any outdoor wedding.
As this shoot was such a success, we’ll definitely be getting together again to create something special. Watch this space!
