Winter Romance: Pronovias elegant wedding at Iscoyd Park – Cara & Sean

Alexis Forsyth

After discovering their venue-to-be on Instagram, Cara and Sean instantly fell head over heels for the beautiful Iscoyd Park, a fabulously pretty country house near Wrexham, which is set to be a location of the UNVEILED Fine Art Wedding Show Luxe Tour on Sunday 20th October this year – more to follow on that soon!

As Cara simply puts it – it’s like tying the knot at your very own luxurious home and we 100% get the appeal of this exquisite venue, as we’re sure you will too after viewing this sensational wedding.

As the bride’s favourite colour, purple hues dominate the colour scheme, offset by gorgeous blooms, candles and greenery for an understated, wholly romantic look. The staircase décor is a particular highlight of ours!

Other ideas you may want to borrow for your own big day include one of the most indulgent cakes we’ve seen – consisting of cookie dough, white chocolate and raspberry and salted caramel; a string quartet providing backdrop music to the ceremony and drinks reception; and statement light up Mr & Mrs letters – perfect for the ‘gram of course! Here’s Cara with all the details…

Proposal

Cara says

: We got engaged in Mykonos in August 2018. Sean hired a Catamaran and as the sun set our song came on over the speaker and he got down on one knee (not very easy in the waves) and gave the most beautiful proposal speech. After I said yes, he struggled for five minutes to get the ring out of tissue paper and I fell flat on my face trying to put it on because of the waves!

Setting

We got married on 9th February 2019. We wanted to get married quickly due to family circumstances and loved the idea of a winter wedding.

We tied the knot at Iscoyd Park, after having seen the venue on Instagram. I just knew it was the place for us and once we had visited, I wouldn’t have got married anywhere else. The house is beautiful and as you have the venue to yourself it feels like getting married at your own (very luxurious) home plus the staff are incredible.

Theme

We didn’t have a particular theme. All we said was ‘no white’ apart from my dress, as we wanted it to be dark and wintery with lots of candles. Purple is my favourite colour and would have always been my theme, and once I saw the bridesmaids in their dark purple dresses, I just knew it was perfect!

Dress

My dress was Pronovias from Brides of Chester. I tried on four dresses and when I said I didn’t want to try on any more and was ready to go home, my family convinced me to try on one more gown. I cried and instantly fell in love with it. I loved wearing this dress on the day, but absolutely trashed it and ripped it from dancing and sliding around in mud and pints!

Groomsmen

Sean wore a tailormade Ted Baker suit from Moss Bros in Liverpool. It was made to his measurements and was the first suit he has ever owned that fit him perfectly, plus the guys in the shop went above and beyond for Sean and the groomsmen’s suits. The groomsmen wore off the peg versions of the same Ted Baker suit that Sean wore, again from Moss Bros who did the alterations.

Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids wore a floor-length, dark purple dresses bought from Cloud 9 Bridal.

Beauty

Vicky, Anna and Charlotte from Bridal Hair and Makeup of Cheshire did our hair and makeup and none of us have ever felt or looked so good, plus they were fantastic company while getting ready.

Photography

Our photographer and videographer were Madison Picture and we couldn’t recommend them enough. Not only is their work incredible and we have the best photos we could wish for – but they were like having extra friends at the wedding who fitted straight in with all our guests and kept us amused throughout.

Styling

I carried a beautiful purple bouquet by Red Floral. I just gave Mat the brief of no white and purple and he came up with the perfect flowers.

Red Floral did all of our flowers and decorations for the venue too, which included a beautiful staircase decoration, candles and greenery to line the aisle and amazing candelabras and candle displays on our tables in the marquee.

We also had Mr & Mrs Black letters from Uplit Event Hire, which made a fantastic backdrop to everyone’s photographs.

Cake

We had the most delicious cake made by Laura at That Cakes The Biscuit. The three layers consisted of cookie dough, white chocolate and raspberry, and salted caramel. Each one was as amazing as the other and the guests were fighting to get a slice of each!

Dining

The food was cooked in-house by the venue and was beautiful, especially the fishcake. My maid of honour doesn’t usually eat fish and couldn’t stop talking about how much she enjoyed it. People were texting me the week after dreaming of the fishcake!

Entertainment

Adagio String Quartet played at the ceremony and drinks reception and I’m sure were shocked to have Sean’s friends chanting along to Sweet Caroline full volume during the drinks reception.

In the evening, we had a DJ and sax player from Jonny Ross Music. The sax was an amazing addition and it genuinely felt like a club – we didn’t leave the dancefloor all night.

Thanks to

My favourite part of the day was the ceremony. We wrote our own vows and didn’t hear each other’s until the day. It was so special to have promises that meant something to us. The other best part was the speeches, we had everyone laughing and crying at the same time.

Honeymoon

We are going on honeymoon in June to Kenya on safari and then to Dubai.

Advice

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be: enjoy the build-up and the day itself. I know everyone says the day goes quickly, but so does the few weeks before. Make sure you enjoy the build-up and find some time for yourself and to be just the two of you. And don’t get too hung up on the planning and finer details.

I found it so useful to look at the real weddings on Brides Up North for inspiration and also after booking things to get excited!
