Boho babes look right this way – we have a rustic themed treat for you today, as we delve into Machela and Ryan’s gorgeous wedding celebrations, held in a rural location on the outskirts of Sheffield.
Not content with one wedding, the couple actually had two – one back in Australia, where they were legally married, and then another when they moved back to the UK in September.
In truly classic boho style, they tied the knot on a farm and held a marquee reception afterwards, complemented by a rich autumnal colour palette, hay bales, native Aussie foliage, fairy lights and a flower crown for our beautiful bride, of course!
Wearing a stunning Grace Loves Lace gown – Michela shows us how to pull off boho chic with aplomb. Prepare yourself for some rather beautiful pin-worthy pics! Here’s the bride to spill all about their big day here in the UK…

Proposal
Machela says
: We were at home, Ryan tried to give me a kiss and I jokingly refused and said, no, not until you put a ring on it…next thing I knew he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring.Setting
We actually have two wedding dates. We lived in Australia for seven years and were legally married there in August. We then moved home to the UK and had a ceremony on 15th September 2018.
We got married on a local farm and had a marquee reception. We hired our marquee from G Mudford and Sons – Marquee and Tent Hire. They were very helpful and allowed some last-minute changes.
We went for a rustic, boho theme with a deep red and green ruffage colour scheme. I wanted autumn colours with it being an autumn wedding.

Dress
I wore a Grace Loves Lace dress. I loved their styles and so many of their dresses were beautiful. I tried on five of their gowns before choosing my dress.
Groomsmen
Ryan wore a dark blue suit from an Australian store called Ransoms. The groomsmen wore dark blue suits from Next.
Bridesmaids
The bridesmaids’ dresses were from Forever New, also an Aussie store, meanwhile my flower girls wore dresses from eBay.

Beauty
Lux Hair and Beauty in Rotherham did my hair and Niamh Kimpton at Doll Face Makeup did our makeup.
Transport
I travelled in a vintage red Volkswagen Kombi van which we borrowed from a family friend.
Photographer
Ellie Grace was our photographer. I loved her style of work and she had a dog in her logo, and we are dog crazy!
Styling
I carried native Australian foliage with red and white roses and also a protea. The flowers and decorative items were supplied by Sweetpea and Thyme. For the venue, we had similar flowers to the bouquet, with minimal décor, lots of fairy lights, mason jars as vases and sliced logs as centrepieces.
We didn’t give our favours, instead we had shot bottles on the tables.

Dining
I am vegan so we had a vegan three-tiered cake from Steel City Cakes, consisting of two chocolate tiers and one red velvet.
We had a vegetarian menu from Rocket Catering.
Entertainment
For our entertainment we had a DJ from PA Entertainment who were great, as Ryan had created a playlist for the wedding.

Special touches
To set the scene of the celebrations and complement the countryside surroundings, our guests sat on hay bales during the wedding ceremony.
Honeymoon
For our honeymoon we went to Santorini. It was everything we dreamed of and more!
Advice
My top tip for other Brides Up North would be, don’t stress out! It will all come together on the day. We mostly planned the wedding through Pinterest.
We’re excited to now be expecting our first baby together, due in October!
