Grace Loves Lace for a Winter Wedding at Stock Farm – Sophie & Graham

We’re bringing you a lesson in modern boho styling today with Sophie and Graham’s big day at Stock Farm in Cheshire, a working stables turned fresh and wild wedding venue.

Grace Loves Lace, and so it seems does our Sophie! Opting for a stunning and ethereal lace, V-neck boho statement gown with a daring and unconventional front split, she’s looking every inch the glowing bride. The groom and his men have kept things ‘sma-sual’, in tweed blazers and jeans, paired with patterned ties. We think the lace and the denim creates a cool contrast, without being overdone, making sure even the most relaxed of grooms feels dapper and ready to roll.

You’ll see that with this wedding, simple and stylish is the order of the day. Macramé touches bring that hippy chic, boho vibe, and the simplistic and minimal stylings are just perfect for a February, late winter wedding, cleansing the palate after all the colour and clashing of Christmas shenanigans.

Sophie says: We got engaged Christmas Eve 2017. My favourite day of the year! Graham had planned the evening and I didn’t know anything about it. He took me to one of our favourite restaurants in central London, which is where he actually was planning to propose but he changed his mind last minute and I was none the wiser. We then left and walked through Piccadilly Circus to catch the tube home. Graham pointed out that this was the place I’d first told him I love him. I couldn’t believe it when I turned around to tell him to stop bringing it up, and he was down on one knee. Everyone around us started clapping which was rather embarrassing but when I think about it now it was pretty special!


We got married on the 29th of February 2020. We’d always wanted a winter wedding and February seemed like a great time to get everyone back together to celebrate after the festive period had calmed down. Plus we found out that 2020 was a leap year and we just loved the idea of the 29th! It actually worked out perfectly, as it was the last big celebration everyone got to have before we all had to go into lockdown.

We had our wedding at Stock Farm, Ashley. We’d booked the venue pretty soon after getting engaged. Stock Farm was the first place we looked at and we just fell in love. We just loved how rustic and raw it was. We could really use the whole space however we wanted and make it our own.


The main theme that we wanted to run throughout was a very boho vibe, with rustic elements using lots of texture and details. I didn’t want anything to look too perfect and polished.

Our main thing was that we didn’t want a lot of colour, and as it was a winter wedding, we wanted to keep it very cool and crisp. Our main colours were green, white, grey and blue, which were brought in through the flowers, stationary and table dressing.


I went with the Mai dress by Grace Loves Lace. It was made from the most amazing lace and I loved the V-neck back and long sleeves – two things that I always knew I wanted, along with a relaxed boho style. My favourite part of the dress was how the front opened and revealed my shoes, which I knew I wanted to be a statement, focus piece. I also went for the beautiful grey fur jacket from Grace Loves Lace, as another statement piece and to help with the winter weather.

Graham wore a navy suit from Fratelli Uniti. The suit jacket and waistcoat were tweed and textured, paired with dark navy skinny jeans and brown shoes.

We wanted the groomsmen to match Graham, but feel super comfortable. So we had them each wear their own navy blazers and jeans, and we bought them all the same ties to bring the look together.


My Maid of Honour was actually my best friend Josh, who wore the same as the groomsmen. My bridesmaids wore grey satin ASOS dresses.


Hair was actually done by one of my bridesmaids, who is a professional hairdresser. I just trusted her to do whatever she liked and I knew it would look great. My hair piece was handmade by my mum, who sewed every pearl onto the fabric by hand! The amazing Poppy Tallulah did makeup for us.


Our photographer was the amazing and so talented Sarah Glynn! We met when I went to Stock Farm for a wedding fair. We spotted each other across the room and when we got chatting we just clicked! Sarah just has the most amazing energy and I loved how relaxed and free her photography style is. We wanted our wedding to feel really fun and for everyone to just feel super happy and comfortable, and we just knew Sarah could capture this for us. We wanted the traditional wedding pictures but with our own unique twist and style to them.

Sarah just fitted in with everything and just made everyone feel so comfortable. It was like she was part of the family attending the wedding. Not only did she take amazing pictures, she really helped make us feel so calm throughout the day, taking the time to make sure I was ok and check if I needed anything.

I would recommend Sarah to anyone and everyone. She just gets exactly what you want and everything is so personal. You can tell she really loves what she does.


The super talented Sassflower supplied all our flowers, bouquets and buttonholes.

We had thistles and a mixture of mainly white and green flowers, with a hint of navy blue and pale blush pink. We wanted the flowers to have a real clean Boho botanical feel, with lots of texture and greenery.

Throughout our wedding décor there were several pieces made by myself and my parents, which made it just feel that extra bit special. My favourite piece was the rustic door arch we were married in front of. My dad did such a wonderful job with it, and in the evening we used it as a photo booth backdrop. We also hired our initial letters from The Word Is Love.

For our wedding styling we hired Corrie from The Soiree Stylists. She did such a good job. The whole room looked amazing, she just knew exactly what we wanted and just how to bring all the ideas we had going on together.

We also used Feel Good Invites. They made our invites, along with a seating plan and order of the day, and then our thank you cards. It just really helped keep our theme running throughout and they were honestly so good to work with.


We had lollipops for everyone made from The Little Lollipop Shop. They were so good.


We had a three-tiered sponge cake with buttercream and jam, made by the amazing Kate at Little Button Bakery. The taste was amazing and she made it look so beautiful. She incorporated our wedding stationery design into the detail, so it tied in perfectly. It was a real piece of art.


For our food we hired Flaming Gourmand. Their food is insane and tastes amazing! Everyone was saying how much they loved it and thought it was the best wedding food they had ever had, and how they want to eat it all over again. We had a full Brazilian banquet, with a cheese board table for desert. This was followed by posh hotdogs and crepes in the evening.

One thing that I would definitely recommend is we had the table names in a jar and got different people to draw names out to see which table went up to get their food. It was really fun and helped pass the time, so nobody was sitting bored, waiting to go up for food. It really helped that Josh knew how to work the mic and entertain the room too!


For our entertainment, we booked the really talented band, The Rush. We found them through Bandtube and, honestly, I have to say they really were fantastic. Everyone was up dancing and just having fun! Gavin and the guys just made the night!

We had several of our friends and family involved too; my aunt and best friend both read a reading in the ceremony whilst my Maid of Honour did a small speech to introduce us to our first dance.

Honestly it isn’t possible to pick one part that we could say was a favourite part. We literally loved the whole day! Everything was so perfect. Just having everyone you love celebrating with you both is the most amazing feeling. I wish we could get married every year!


My top tip for another wedding couple would be to try and just enjoy every moment of your wedding. From the initial planning to the days after the wedding, when you may be feeling a little blue. Just take the time to take it all in and breathe. Don’t get too caught up in every single detail, try and work with your partner the best you can and share your load and opinions as much as possible. It will all work out and be the most amazing day you will ever have!
