Today’s featured real wedding is a city centre celebration with a stylish nod to the 1940s era. Join us at the Hotel Gotham in Manchester as we celebrate the marriage of Kamile and Andrew.
Rainy days can sometimes make for the best photographs. No one squinting in the sun, plenty of brollies and laughter, and a real sense of unity and cosiness amongst the guests. It may have rained on Kamile and Andrew’s big September day but it certainly didn’t dampen any spirits!
When your wonderful venue takes care of a lot of the planning and entertainment, you can adopt a more laid back approach in the lead up to the big day. Without fuss or fanfare, the lovely Kamile also opted for high street bridal style with her gorgeous and simple Ted Baker dress, proving you don’t have to go down the conventional boutique route to look a million dollars as you walk down the aisle towards your groom. Let’s speak to the bride herself to find out more…

Proposal
Kamile says: It was at The China Grill in Dubai on February 14th, 2017, Valentine’s Day. It was a complete surprise for me. Andrew asked me to marry him over a romantic dinner, I said yes and I think most of the other diners all clapped and cheered when I said yes and we kissed.
Setting
We got married on September the 8th. We chose it because 8 is a lucky number symbolising eternity. I’m quite religious as I am from the Philippines and this date is also Mama Mary’s birthday.
We got married at Manchester registry office and our reception was at Hotel Gotham. We chose Hotel Gotham because it is such a beautiful hotel and the decor matches our theme. We wanted to dress in a classic way.
Theme
The outfit my husband liked was a 1940s suit so it kind of all branched out from there and everything fell into the theme perfectly. We didn’t have a specific colour scheme. It just all matched a 1940s theme so it was basically dark colors and gold.
Dress
My dress was from Ted Baker. I loved how simple but elegant the design was. The material was beautiful.
Groomsmen
My husband’s suit was from Next. The groomsmen all wore dark blue suits and waistcoats all from Next.
Bridesmaids
Unfortunately, I didn’t have any bridesmaid’s because all my friends and family are in the Philippines and we wouldn’t be able to bring all of them here.
Beauty
Amy, who did my makeup, is a friend of one of my husband’s colleagues. She’s lovely and made me really pretty on my wedding day. The one who did my hair was from a salon which I came across through the Treatwell app and it turned out really nice.
Transport
We hired a Volkswagen camper van for transportation.
Photographer
David made us both feel so much at ease in front of his camera. We both really enjoyed his company on the day and he made everything effortless. Our wedding photographs are really beautiful and we couldn’t recommend him enough.
Styling
David Wayman provided yellow and pink roses. All the decoration and flowers came from Hotel Gotham.
Cake
Our cakes were by Sara Lindsey.
Entertainment
We had a DJ who was supplied by Hotel Gotham.
Thanks to
Hotel Gotham is so unique and stylish. The bar is situated on the rooftop of the hotel which provides amazing views of Manchester City Centre. The reception room is very sumptuous, dark and classy. David, our photographer, went above and beyond to ensure our day ran smoothly and he really made our day that extra bit special.
Best Bit
We loved the whole day but the speeches and the first dance really enhanced the day for us. I also loved being photographed by David, we had a lot of fun.
Advice
My advice for another couple would be to make sure you choose your venue wisely and more importantly, make sure you have a professional photographer to capture your day. The day goes by really quickly so your photographs are extremely important.
Honeymoon
We spent a month with my family in the Philippines. We travelled around quite a bit too and the whole honeymoon was magical.
