Briefly introduce yourself and your business?

The Event Edit is a prop hire and venue styling business headed up by us, the co-directors, Laura and Gabriella. It specialises in luxury bohemian and modern industrial styles, whether you want a super cool industrial vibe, vintage glamour or a whimsical bohemian look, The Event Edit has it all.

Where did your passion for styling and planning come from – and how did it turn into a career?

Gabriella had worked in the fashion industry for 10+ years doing creative roles and both directors share a love for interior design, so when I got engaged and asked Gabriella to be her Maid of Honour, venue styling became our obsession. The juxtaposition between my romantic yet glamorous style paired with Gabriella’s bohemian, eccentric flare makes the perfect match to create visionary events that are personal to you.

What are the main benefits of hiring an event stylist?

There are so many benefits to hiring a venue dresser in addition to making your venue look wedding day worthy. The Event Edit are specialists at what we do and, whilst for most couples a wedding is a one time occasion, The Event Edit are experts in dressing all different types of spaces with their collection of bespoke props. Hiring a venue dresser will also take away any stress on the day, as someone else will be ensuring that the location is picture perfect for you and your guests, which means that you can sit back and relax with a glass of fizz on your big day.

In what ways can you assist couples?

Covid restrictions permitting, we usually offer clients a meeting at their venue. We like to do a walk around with the couples to get a feel for how they envision their day, and we can discuss the finer details, however, where this is not possible, we are always on hand via zoom, telephone, or email.

We have a choice of styled packages ready to go, each one with its own unique features, however where couples wish to create something of their own, we will also work with you to build your own bespoke venue dressing package. In addition, we also offer individual prop hire, providing that our minimum order spend is met.

Once we have been through the process of lovingly choosing your décor with you, you can sit back and relax. We will deliver the items and do a fully styled set up at your chosen venue, we can dress multiple rooms and we will work with the venue if you want anything moved around so that you can get the most out of your décor.

Do you have a signature style?

Our tagline at The Event Edit is ‘for the wild at heart’, and this gives an insight into our style. We love all things bold and bohemian, and we pride ourselves on bringing something different to the table. Each one of The Event Edit’s backdrops has been lovingly designed by us for couples that want something unique for their special day.

What colours and themes are popular with couples at the moment?

At The Event Edit our most popular package that was booked throughout 2020 is the Botanical Gardens package. With a leafy green base, this colour palette is very on trend. The luscious greenery layers of eucalyptus and fiscus offer so much versatility, from creating an ethereal romantic vibe, or acting as a base to accompany other colour palettes.

How do you ensure that the weddings you style are unique to each couple?

At The Event Edit we pride ourselves on delivering something unique to each couple, as every couple has their own vision. We love getting to know our couples and listening to what matters to them. Whilst we have our core collection, we love nothing more than a good challenge and will source bespoke items when a couple wants something completely unique.

What are your top three tips for couples when planning their wedding day style?

  1. When deciding on your style, take your time, create a mood board, enjoy the process. If you can’t see the wood from the trees take a break and come back to it. Then once you have decided, stick with it.
  2. Be true to yourselves. The Event Edit passionately believes that your wedding day style should be unapologetically you.
  3. Don’t forget the details, this is what gives couples wedding day style the wow factor.

What trends do you see emerging in weddings in the coming year and beyond?

All around us the world is slowly becoming more eco-friendly and this is even catching on in the wedding industry. A wedding day has the potential to be such a wasteful day, from the invitations to the flowers, however more and more couples are choosing to give back to the environment by being more eco savvy. Check out our blog ‘The Eco Edit’ on our website for more suggestions on how to make your day more environmentally friendly.
