Ultimate Luxe: Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal

Sarah Symonds

Today our spotlight is shining on an exciting new business – especially for those brides in and around the Peak District! The little town of Matlock has been home to gorgeous bridal boutique Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal and we’ve caught up with Charlotte herself to find out a little more about her background and why supporting local is so important to her, before an exciting boutique move to larger premises in the new year!

With a history in retail, fashion design and the bridal industry, and creativity in her blood it’s no surprise that these days you can find Charlotte living her dream, having opened her own bridal boutique for fashion-forward brides. Proudly describing the currnent shop as “the ultimate luxurious vibe”, a space where old-world glamour meets modern elegance, it’s not hard to see that our gal has found her passion.

We’ve been finding out all about the stunning and romantic gowns that the boutique stocks – and enjoying the images from this stunning shoot, created by Charlotte’s chosen supplier team – the perks of stalking designers on Instagram and hearing that there’s exciting new things ahead too! So get yourself cosy on the sofa and let’s get into it…

Hi Charlotte!

Hello! I’m Charlotte Burton and I’m incredibly excited to have finally opened my own bridal boutique! I have a degree in Fashion Design from Lincoln University, plus many years’ experience in retail – especially the bridal industry!

Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal is set in the picturesque Peak District town of Matlock. I wanted to create the ultimate glam bridal boutique that brides would be excited to visit and never forget! We’re actually moving to a larger premises in the New Year to support the expanding business, and we’ll be focussing on keeping that same special look and feel – only better still!

Where did your passion for bridal fashion begin?

I’ve always had a passion for art and design, and would often dream of owning my own bridal boutique. During my Fashion degree, I always loved designing glamorous evening collections. I especially adored bridal fashion and luxurious fabrics! I feel the artistic flair is in my blood as I grew up inspired by my creative parents and grandparents.

Do you have a signature style of gown?

The signature Charlotte Elizabeth look would have to be a modern take on ultra sparkle princess with a statement crown.

Which labels do you stock and why did you choose them?

I’ve kept a close eye on several bridal designers over recent years and have now chosen gowns from some of the top designers to produce my own unique capsule collection of beautiful wedding gowns and accessories:

Allure Bridals is all about the details; beading, floral appliqués, dramatic backs, and perfect draping. Each gown features details to set it apart and make the bride shine.

The Nicole Milano & Nicole Colet collection features elegant and romantic dresses with refined details.

With styles from sexy to romantic, boho to classic, White One is inspired by real, millennial brides and Insta trends. Designed by the Pronovias Group artistic team, this new line by White One guarantees the signature perfect fit, with high quality gowns at great value.

House of St Patrick is ultimate chic! High necklines, low backs, pearl beadings – the 2021 collection is inspired by the fabulous Audrey Hepburn in New York film “Breakfast at Tiffanys”, being influenced by the beautiful, precious stones and elegant designs in the 5th Avenue boutique.

Roisin Reuss’ bridal lingerie is the most luxurious nightwear lovingly handmade right here in Britain, with high attention to detail, impeccable quality control and perfected fit, each piece becomes a forever classic.

We also stock Nieve Wedding Veils, the ultimate in luxury! Elaborate designs or simple, elegant styles are available, each adorned with Swarovski crystals and crystal pearls. The finest lace is sourced from around the world to coordinate with your gown perfectly.

Arianna Tiaras are known for their unique use of colour tones and components, statement fashion rather than tradition, with a look inspired by Parisian chic.

PIJouletta London Jewellery pieces are for everyday wear and we do believe very much in affordable luxury. PIJouletta’s pieces are designed to impeccably express elegance and adventure.

I also have a brand new, very well known bridal designer coming to the boutique soon which I can’t reveal just yet! It’s going to be extremely exciting and a treat for the small town of Matlock! It begins with a V… can you guess?!

What sizes do you carry?

All sample gowns range from size 8 – 26 but every gown can be ordered from size 4 – 32!

I have carefully selected sizes for each sample gown, to make sure every bride that walks through the door will enjoy the same experience and not feel limited to what they can try on!

What sort of price point are your gowns?

Prices range from £950 – £3500.

Where would you advise couples to look for inspiration when beginning the dress hunt?

Instagram! It’s fantastic in helping you find new ideas! Pinterest is great also for inspiration!

How do you approach each appointment?

I want the bride to feel completely comfortable, relaxed and enjoy her bridal experience! I can fully understand it can be nerve-wracking searching for the gown of your dreams, never mind opening up to someone you’ve never met! I love to get to know the bride prior to the appointment, so she instantly feels comfortable with me – some brides have mentioned that they feel I’m already their friend before they even try the gowns on! My main priority is their happiness and that they trust me in finding their perfect gown!

I do also love pulling out my “wildcard gown” after fully understanding what the bride loves and doesn’t love! For me, the main part of being a bridal stylist is to understand what works for the body. Most of the time it is completely not what they expected! I love surprising them, that’s why by gaining their trust, they trust me in finding their perfect bridal gown!

Tell us about the fittings and alterations process?

We recommend a local seamstress to our brides, who has her own business on our street. We’re able to offer knowledgeable advice on alterations, as I have a degree in dress making, but as we are a small and new business, we don’t have a seamstress in house just yet. We are happy for the seamstress to come to the bride’s collection appointment if needed.

Why should brides shop in independent, local boutiques?

I love to support local independent businesses and I use many of them in my boutique to help promote their work. I appreciate brides may be able to get a cheaper or different style of dress elsewhere, but shopping with an independent business, especially a new one like mine, will mean the world personally to the business owner. I have dreamt my whole life of this moment, taking the huge risk to leave my full time job and putting my full attention into perfecting every detail of the boutique specially to give brides the best bridal experience possible.

What do your brides love about your service?

My brides love the honesty I give them. The attention to detail and providing them full support throughout the whole process. Also the unique bridal goodies they receive!

What are your top tips for clients when choosing their wedding outfits?

Be open minded, don’t worry if you find The One on your first appointment and RELAX AND HAVE FUN!

An the no-nos?

Listening to too many other people’s opinions, a really strict budget as it limits you sometimes and not having confidence in yourself!

What trends do you see emerging in bridal fashion?

Simple chic and more square necklines!

Is there a special discount that you would like to offer to our readers?

I’d love to extend our launch offer of 10% off bridesmaids gowns to Brides Up North readers, plus you’ll get a free unique bridal illustration of you in your gown when you purchase your dress with us.
