Julia Smith

Jennifer

When it comes to bridal fashion, there’s no one better to guide us through the latest trends than our Loved Up Club Member Emma, the owner and resident wedding dress expert at Maria Modes Bridal in Cheshire. With years of experience and a passion for helping brides find their dream dress, Emma has an eye for the styles that make wedding days unforgettable.

For 2025, she’s sharing her insights on everything from the revival of a vintage silhouette to modern touches like pastel hues and sustainable designs. Prepare to be inspired (and to want to go shopping immediately!) as Emma talks us through the bridal trends that will shape the year ahead.

Basque Revival

The Basque waist dress is a dream come true for brides seeking a touch of fairytale drama. Defined by a fitted bodice that dips into a flattering V-shape at the waistline, this silhouette first rose to fame in the Victorian era. Thanks to historical dramas like Bridgerton, its regal allure has crept back into contemporary designs, making the Basque waist the undisputed star of the 2025 bridal scene.

What makes this style so special is its ability to enhance an hourglass figure by cinching the waist and elongating the torso. This universally flattering design creates a romantic, structured look that works across different body types.

“Brides love the Basque waist because it is timelessly elegant while still feeling modern,” Emma shares. “It works beautifully with both minimalist and intricate designs.”

Designers are using the Basque waist in a variety of styles, moving beyond the traditional ballgown. One of my favourite designers, Andre at House of Savin has utilised the Basque waist in his latest collections on both slim and fuller styles and both plain and patterned fabrics. Their Amiri gown, for example, pairs the Basque waist with a sleek, minimalist silhouette,  meanwhile, Inez showcases this romantic shape in lace.

While the Basque waist is a showstopper, it’s not the only trend sparking excitement this year. Here are a few more that Emma believes brides should keep on their radar:

Coco

Statement Sleeves

Big, bold sleeves continue their reign in bridal fashion. Whether it’s detachable puff sleeves for a touch of drama or sheer bishop sleeves in delicate lace, this trend adds a whimsical, feminine element to any dress.

Pastel Coloured Gowns

Classic ivory will always have its place, but pastel hues are stealing hearts in 2025. Shades like blush pink, powder blue, and soft sage green bring a fresh and romantic vibe to bridal wear. House of Savin’s Bloom dress, with its pastel floral hand-painting, perfectly embodies this ethereal trend.

“Pastel tones are so refreshing ,” Emma says. “They allow brides to express their individuality while still maintaining that romantic wedding-day feel.”

Evelyna

Exposed Corsetry

With another nod to historical fashion, exposed corsetry continues to have a moment this year. Featuring visible boning, sheer panels, and intricately placed embellishments, this trend is both beautiful and structural.

Sustainable & Ethical Bridal Wear

Sustainability is more than a trend—it’s a movement that’s reshaping the bridal industry. Brides in 2025 can choose eco-friendly gowns crafted from organic silk, recycled lace, and other low-impact materials. Many designers are also prioritising re-wearable and versatile designs, giving brides the option to extend the life of their wedding outfit.

“Brides today want to make decisions that not only look good but feel good,” notes Emma. “Choosing sustainable options ensures their big day is as eco-conscious as it is beautiful.”

Convertible Dresses

Versatility is key for today’s modern bride, and convertible dresses are the ultimate solution. Think detachable skirts for a ceremony-to-reception transformation, removable sleeves for added styling options, and mix-and-match separates that allow for a fully personalised look. These designs let brides adapt their look to every moment of their special day.
