Proposal

Kieran proposed during a holiday in Wales with our little dog Maggie. We had planned a dolphin-watching boat trip, but the day started with pouring rain, and we ended up bickering on the way there (unbeknownst to me, Kieran was stressed about the proposal)! After a very rainy morning with no dolphins in sight, the sun finally came out, and the dolphins appeared during the last half hour of the trip.

Once we got back to shore, Kieran suggested a walk on the beach with Maggie. In a quiet corner, he got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I said yes!

Venue

We got married on 25th October 2024. We wanted an autumnal wedding close to home, and this date felt perfect for the cosy, rustic vibe we envisioned.

We chose East Riddlesden Hall for both our ceremony and reception. It’s such a gorgeous, rustic venue, and we fell in love with it as soon as we arrived. Plus, it’s on our doorstep, which makes it even more special to us.

Theme

Our wedding was very handmade and authentic. So many of our favourite people contributed to the day, from my mum making my dress to friends helping with decorations.

We went for rustic and autumnal colours to complement the season and the venue’s natural charm.

Bride

My dress was handmade by my mum, which made it so special to me. We went to a fabric shop together and chose the pattern and materials. It was important to me to have some colour in the dress, and she created something amazing.

For the evening, I changed into a sequin jumpsuit to dance the night away.

Groom

Kieran wore a sage green suit from Moss Bros, and it suited the autumnal theme perfectly.

Beauty

Amanda from Lipstick and Curls did our hair and makeup. She created gorgeous, bespoke vintage looks for me and the bridal party. They were amazing and made us all feel so special.

Transport

We travelled in our old Volkswagen Polo, the same car Kieran picked me up in on our first date. It was such a sweet and personal touch to the day.

Photography

We had the amazing Fern Dalton as our photographer. She was with us all day, made us feel so at ease, and captured the most beautiful photos. We’re absolutely in love with them!

Videography

Our videographer was Katy from Captured by Katy, and she was incredible. She put together a beautiful reel of our wedding day and sent it to us the very next day.

Floral Design

I carried a bouquet of dried flowers sourced from Etsy and picked from Baildon Moor. I wanted something rustic that I could keep forever, and they were perfect.

We made most of the decorations ourselves, with friends creating beautiful felted centrepieces.

Cake

Our cakes were lovingly handmade by my mum, auntie, and grandma. My mum’s friend even made the tree stand for the cakes by hand. It was such a personal touch, and I’m sure you can guess the theme here – everything was created with love!

Favours

For favours, I illustrated all of our guests by hand and gave them their portraits as a keepsake.

Catering

We chose The Outside Kitchen, who were so welcoming and offered an amazing range of options. We went with sharing platters to bring everyone together at the tables. We love Thai food, so we chose a Thai platter, and everyone said the food was incredible!

Entertainment

We had New York Royals as our band, and they were absolutely fab! They kept the energy high all evening, ending with a mosh pit for Kieran and his metalhead friends. It was such a fun way to finish the night!

Best Bits

Everything about the day was special to us. From my handmade dress to the personalised favours, every detail was chosen with care and love by the people we cherish most.

Honeymoon

For our honeymoon, we spent a week in Mexico relaxing on the beach, exploring and swimming. Then, we flew to New York for four days of sightseeing and being the ultimate tourists. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure!

Top tip

Just be yourselves! Relax—it’s stressful making decisions, but at the end of the day, it’s all about marrying your best friend with your loved ones close by. That’s the only thing that really matters.
