Meet The Maker Behind the Magic
Hello, I am Karen, owner, director, and chief cake maker at Vintage Cake Fairy. I specialise in non-traditional (think fun and full of personality) wedding cakes and bespoke cake toppers.
I decorated my first cake in 2009 while working as a freelance prop maker in London. After studying 3D design at university, crafting came naturally. Within a year, I swapped props for cakes and started working full-time as a cake decorator. I fell in love with the romance and drama of weddings, but eventually craved a slower pace. So, in 2012, I moved back to Yorkshire and launched Vintage Cake Fairy in January 2013. My first wedding fair sealed the deal – I never looked back.
One Of A Kind Cakes
I design and make one-of-a-kind wedding cakes and bespoke cake toppers – each one truly personal. Whether it’s a “reveal back” cake (traditional at the front, party at the back!) or a novelty stack of books, I love to capture my couples’ personalities. For those who prefer classic styles, my custom toppers (even with pets!) are a perfect, personal touch. Every cake starts with a relaxed design consultation in my studio, and I handle everything from sketch to delivery, no matter the distance.

I make cakes bursting with personality and fun! I listen closely to my couples and create cakes that get talked about for years. I love working with couples who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and want something truly unique for their big day.
The Vintage Cake Fairy Experience
It starts with an email chat and a tasting box. If we’re a match, we book in and, 3 to 6 months before the wedding, meet for a fun design consultation (tea or something stronger optional)! I sketch out ideas, send a formal quote, and tweak as needed. Final details are confirmed six weeks before the big day – especially important for custom toppers. On the wedding morning, I deliver your cake in person, wherever you are!

In the future I’d still love to be creating unforgettable cakes, but also teaching others through classes and tutorials. I’ve just launched my TikTok to share behind-the-scenes and “how to” videos, with more content planned for 2026.
