I’ve been so excited to share the work of this North West collaboration with you for a while now! Inspired by the release of the movie “OZ The Great & The Powerful” this clever group of wedding industry suppliers have put their heads together to come up with a stunning bridal shoot inspired by Glynda the Good Witch & Co. Introducing their concept – LOVE The Great & The Wonderful.
.
The shoot will feature in the upcoming issue of North West bridal magazine Lucia Rose Wedding, but they contacted me as they wanted to bring you all the images here first. Innovative and inspirational collaborations like this one showcase exactly what the suppliers right on your doorstep can do.

Follow the yellow brick road, be inspired, and remember Northern gals, there’s no place like home!

Phoebe Caramitsos at Flossy & Leigh Makeup Artists Company says: Who says all the talent is in the South?! This Spring saw the release of Warner Bros new movie, and with themed weddings becoming more and more popular, this gave the Flossy & Leigh team a fabulous idea.
.
We brought together some of the finest creatives and suppliers in the North West and simply gave them the ‘Wizard of Oz’ creative brief. See what happens when this talented team of eight are charged with creating the perfect contemporary ‘Oz themed’ wedding for Spring. Join us as we follow the yellow brick road and journey somewhere over the rainbow… to Staffordshire!

Since starting the bridal hair and makeup styling company Flossy & Leigh, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some truly inspirational wedding suppliers and creatives in some stunning locations.
.
What people don’t realise about the wedding industry, especially in the north, is how close the suppliers are. Some of the most successful weddings of the year, rely greatly upon the union and communication between the photographer, the hair & makeup stylist, the accessories, the dress, the flowers, the cake and the stationary supplier. One influences the other, and when you can get a team to work together, the result is one of seamless coordination and beauty.
.
When it came to putting together a themed wedding for the purpose of this shoot, we went straight to a number of some of our favourite wedding suppliers to bring this idea to you. The end product is a sterling example of how well everybody works together on any given wedding to produce something extraordinary and beautiful.
.
Although the Oz theme itself can be interpreted as quite bold, we still wanted to treat it like it was a real wedding, and make it marketable, so that people who wouldn’t normally have thought about a themed wedding before, may see the results and think, "I’d love that".

"Shooting a wedding is very much like a fashion shoot. You have a lovely location, church or hotel, fabulous props, cars, flowers, rings, and beautiful models, our bride and groom. The great thing about the Oz shoot was working with some of the top suppliers in the northwest and seeing the creativity and care that they put into their work. It was truly inspiring. A stunning venue. Original bouquets made of crystals. Dresses to die for. Artistic invitations. Inspired videography. Cakes that look, and taste delicious. Exquisite flowers that create a wonderland. Heaven made jewellery. Beautiful models, both inside and out. Inspired and gifted make-up artists who bring out the hidden beauty. We really couldn’t go wrong, or to quote Dorothy in Oz…“If I ever go looking for my hearts desire again, I wont look any further than my own back yard.” Christine Harrison Wedding Photography

“The main head piece we used is an Eleventh Heaven exclusive which is proving to be hugely popular. It is so adaptable and can be worn many different ways, as a cuff, necklace, attached to a sash or added to your shoes! Creating bespoke designs allows all of my brides to retain their individuality as no piece is ever the same.” Eleventh Heaven by Ann McKavney

"When working on weddings I focus on the detail, the tiny things that make a shot beautiful. This shoot was no exception, not only focusing on the intricacies of the flowers, dress and head wear but reflecting the personalities of all those involved. It’s great to work with a tight knit bunch of people who take what they do very seriously, but are not serious people, just good fun! " Rebecca Reville Wedding Films

“There’s just something magical at working with brides and grooms up North. There’s a popular misconception that there’s a general lack of anything cool up here but all the clients we see have the most amazing and eclectic ideas and we get to create some fabulous cakes for them all.
.
We wanted to bring this eclectic feeling to the cake we created for the shoot – to show that you can still have something stunning for your wedding but it doesn’t have to be boring! The basket is created from layer upon layer of multi-coloured cake to create a rainbow effect but then adorned with quilting, pearls and delicate frilled flowers to echo the current trend of opulent and elegant design. The balloon is just chocolate (what more did you expect from us) which was then appliquéd with lacework flowers and hand piped with chocolate filigree work to finish the effect.” Abi at Butterflies & Angels

“I take nothing in my work for granted and every bride to be I work with is very special to me. My bouquets are my babies and I gain an immense amount of pleasure from each peace I make. As a wedding supplier I feel privileged to be trusted to play a small part in the most special day of any ladies life. The nice thing is everyone I deal with is happy and very excitable, not many people can say they enjoy their work and it is such a pleasure.” Carol at Crystal Bouquets By Tilly
