Take it away Kath: Matt and I were wed on June 2, 2007 in a historic church built in 1814 in Hillsborough, North Carolina.A dinner & dancing reception followed at the Doris Duke Center in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens on Duke University’s campus.

I wore a gown by Angelina Faccenda dotted with Swarovski crystals scattered onto the shirred silk taffeta and a semi cathedral train.

My five bridesmaids wore silk dupioni Sabrina Tea Length Charsa dresses in the colour Apple Green.

My bridesmaids and I carried bright summery bouquets of pink, orange and coral roses dotted with bright green button mums with stems covered in a pink satin ribbon.

The church windows had a trio of pink, orange, and yellow gerbera daisies.

Matt and I made many of our wedding details, including our wedding programs, menus and place card tags, which all shared a green paisley theme designed and printed on my computer.

Tiny jars of honey doubled as place cards, displaying each guest’s name, table number, and the motto “Life is Sweet!”

The aqua and green-striped cake was accented with sugar button mums and flavoured with a raspberry Chambord cake and filling.

A groom’s cake featured the logo of their alma mater where we met as freshmen, Davidson College.

At the reception, Blue Devil Whiskey Sours in honour of being on the Duke University Campus were a huge hit, and we danced a waltz to “Moon River” followed by a father-daughter dance to “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

We were sent off in a flurry of sparklers and honeymooned in California Wine Country.
