Let’s hear from Jenny: Our wedding day was everything we imagined it would be. The minute we saw Matfen Hall we instantly fell in love with the beautiful country house hotel inside and out.

It was truly the best day of our lives and ran smoothly from start to finish. The men wore Ascot morning suits, the groom sported an ivory cravat whilst the other men wore red cravats to match the bridesmaids.

The bridesmaids wore long dark red Alfred Angelo dresses with ivory shrugs and ivory roses to match. My wedding dress was also by Alfred Angelo. It was exactly as I had always imagined, with a tiara and veil. It was traditionally ivory in colour, strapless and figure hugging with a bit of sparkle and laced up at the back. My bouquet was a cluster of big deep red roses.

The Great Hall where wedding ceremonies take place boasts a huge sweeping staircase – enough to make any bride feel like a princess. We filled the room with flowers and candles which were complimented by the large Christmas tree and big open fire..

Matfen Hall is surrounded by beautiful Northumbrian countryside which was covered with crisp white snow and sparkled in the winter sunshine.

We had a wonderful day with all our close friends and family around us which made it even more special. Some guests even described the day as the most romantic wedding they had ever been to.
