How did you get into wedding photography? What is your background?

.
I have always loved photography but didn’t take it up seriously until about 15 years ago. I was on maternity leave and wanted something to do so went and did what was then City & Guilds qualifications in photography. This covered everything from the darkroom to location to studio.  I then photographed my brothers wedding out in Portugal and was hooked! Someone saw the work that I had done for him and 
recommended me the their friend and that was the start of the business.

Why wedding photography specifically?

.

I have done other photography and still do select commissions when asked, but I just love weddings – every one is unique and I love being  able to capture all that for the bride and groom.

What is your favourite thing about being a wedding photographer?

.

I guess I’d have to say the variety, everyday is different. That and  the moment when the bride first see’s her images – that part is magical!

How do you get couples to relax on the day?

.
I always offer a pre-wedding shoot for the couple a few months before the wedding so that they can get used to me and vice versa. I find this helps to make them more relaxed. But also I make sure I take time 
to get to know them, find out what they like and dislike so on the day itself they are like friends.

Any advice to any brides who don’t like to have their picture taken?

.

I think nearly every Bride who I meet says at some point that they don’t like having their picture taken! I try to find out what the reasons are because sometimes it could be something as simple as they have had a bad experience in the past. All brides look stunning on their wedding day, it’s up to me to make sure that the images I take show them off to their absolute best. That’s why the pre-wedding shoot is useful because we can get to see what angles work best, whether the bride likes her profile etc.

What sort of makeup should a bride wear to look great in her pictures?

.
We always suggest a really natural covering that makes the skin flawless.  It depends on the bride but most make up artists that I work with go for a natural look. It helps with the images to show their key features without losing the real them.

Anything to avoid which might look bad in the wedding pictures?

.
One thing I always have to do though is remind the Bride and Groom to take the price labels off the bottom of their shoes!

Which celebrity wedding would you most like to photograph and why?      

.

I would love to photograph Scarlett Johansson so I guess her wedding would be good.

If you were photographer at the Royal Wedding, what would be your "must have" shot?

.

Something private that meant something to them – not one for the media but one that they might like on their wall at home to show how special their day had been.

Any memorable weddings that you have captured?

.
I can honestly say that I have loved all the weddings that I have photographed, but there are always some that surprise you like when the groom cried and I’d thought he was as tough as old boots or when 
the couple have been so in love that they are almost lost in their own world.

Are you married?

.

Not yet! My wedding day is the 19th February 2011.

What sets you apart from other wedding photographers?

.

I always try to understand the requirements of the couple and make sure that I can fulfil them before agreeing to photograph their  wedding. I look to build a relationship with them throughout the booking and pre-wedding process so that they get the very best images for their albums.

What can a couple who book you expect on the day?

.

I always discuss with the couple how long they want coverage for so this can vary from wedding to wedding, but I will happily cover bridal preparations through to first dance or just a couple of hours, whatever suits them. My style is quite relaxed so I do tend to ‘go with the flow’ as much as possible but I always make sure there is time set aside at some point for any group shots that the couple may want.

What is included in your "package"?

.

I don’t have set packages, preferring instead to work a bespoke package out for each wedding. This means that the couple only pay for the elements they really want and don’t pay for those they don’t want. If someone wants all day coverage and a beautiful album then they can have that, but equally, there are plenty of couples that only want a few hours coverage and often a small coffee table book or even a CD so I work around that too.

Can you give us an idea on price?

.
As everything is bespoke it is difficult but I would say that the majority of my couples pay between £1,000.00 and £1500.00 depending on the number of hours that I cover and the type of album that they choose.

The best way the see more of my work is on the website or blog.  The blog is updated regularly with the latest weddings and other shoots so that’s probably a good place to start. After that email me and I’ll
