How did Damselle Tiaras begin?
.
The concept of Damselle Tiaras started at the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate in 2004. My husband and I wanted to start a small online business and as both our daughters were getting married we decided upon tiaras and accessories. After attending numerous wedding fairs and exhibitions we thought that this would be easy! Big joke! I had a lot of support and advice from Kirstie at Flo and Percy who gave me lots of encouragement.

What products are available to order on the Damselle Tiaras website?

The products available are tiaras, belts, sashes, millinery and jewellery. Our best sellers are Polly Edwards, Ivory and Co and Louis Mariette.

Both Polly Edwards and Louis Mariette designs are hand made in the UK.

Tell Brides Up North about your range of hats and fascinators?

Our daughter Melissa was lucky enough to be able to train in millinery in Leeds, our hometown, at the Leeds College of Art and Design and takes her inspiration mainly from the 1940’s and 1950’s at the moment and uses best quality materials and everything is handmade by herself. Melissa loves to work with her customers to create and capture the style and design that they want.

Which of your products would you recommend for a bride on a budget?

For a bride on a budget Ivory and Co have a fabulous range that can look very expensive and prices start at approximately £50.00 whereas if money is not an option and the bride to be wants to splash out then there are pieces like Patchouli by Polly Edwards at £795.

What sets your website apart from other online bridal retailers?
.
I think that there is so much competition these days both in store and online but I believe that giving the best service that you can possibly offer, staying in contact with the bride to be, reassuring and assuring her that everything is going to plan and treating your customer as you would like to be treated yourself and I don’t think that you can go wrong with that. Everyone wants to be treated just that little bit special and lets not forget that we are working with someone who is getting married who is getting stressed out and my job is to ensure that they receive the tiara/headpiece of their dreams in plenty of time for their fittings and their big day.

Which celebrity would you like to see in a Damselle Tiaras piece and why?
.
I think that every bride to be feels like a celebrity on her wedding day but if I had to choose a celebrity today to wear a tiara I think that I would choose Grace Woodward as she has her finger on the pulse of fashion but has a quirky side so think that she would carry off something by Louis Mariette wonderfully well.

How far in advance should Brides Up North place their order?

The timescales for ordering would be dependant on the designer. Ivory and Co can be dispatched within 48 hours whereas others can be anything between 4 to 6 weeks although Polly Edwards does offer a fast track service.
