Helen says: I’ve been designing stationery for years but recently found a passion for screen printing. A combination of this and a love of all things wedding led me to produce a few ‘wedding themed’ screen printed bags and kids wedding day favour bags.
.
Following good feedback from other wedding suppliers and couples planning their weddings who I’ve met at wedding fairs throughout 2011, I started selling them on Etsy. They went down a storm, so I decided to try my luck landing an even bigger fish – Not On The High Street.com – where I am now trading under my business name Solographic Art!

I know others who’ve failed and know that over half of applications fail but I believe I have something unique and during December I applied. I put together a scrapbook of images very loosely and sent them over and to my amazement I was accepted. I wanted it to be right so I commissioned a photographer I love who specialises in product photography and works with others who sell on the site and she produced some great shots of my work.

The product I believe won the application for me is the kids personalised gift bags. They can be coloured in with fabric pens, washed and coloured again and again. They have been bought for a number of occasions but were designed originally as children’s wedding favour bags/activity packs.

I won’t be selling all of my wedding stationery on Not On The High Street, just a few popular styles but want all brides to be out there I have a huge range which I’ll be selling direct through What A Do Weddings as a lot of my brides to be prefer to have something bespoke designed, and this way I can still offer a very personal service.
