Last Thursday – my goodness is it really less than a week ago?! – I was thrilled to be invited along as a guest of The UK Alliance of Wedding Planners to host a special “Blogging For Business” session, at The Palace Hotel in Manchester.
.
I fought wind, rain, sleet, snow and thick Pennine fog to get there (arriving three hours early – just in case – thankfully The Palace Hotel has a nice bar!) but get there I did! We lost a few to the weather, but over twenty of the North’s wedding industry talents turned out to hear my musings.

I had managed to keep my nerves under control (and without the use of gin and tonic too!) UNTIL I saw the room I’d be presenting in. Er, could you get any grander? And more sound absorbent?! Flashback to my previous life as a lawyer and taking a pasting from a particularly nasty District Judge!
.
Still, I have honed these nerves of steel in those very Court rooms, and the show went on!
.
Huge thanks to The Palace Hotel and especially wedding coordinator Jenna for really pulling out all the stops and making this such a fine event.

My presentation has a loose format (and no, it’s not all Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes as the image above might suggest!), but what I love most of all is questions from the floor. I’m here for your information after all! Luckily Northerners aren’t particularly shy in coming forward and a lovely interactive session was soon underway. Before I knew it an hour and a half had flown by and it was time to retire to the bar to continue the conversation on a more one on one basis.

Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time out of your busy schedules, battling the weather and coming to join in. You know where to find me if you want to take the discussion further: julia@bridesupnorth.co.uk

Thanks to Caroline White Photography for capturing the evening on camera. As a result, she probably still has no idea what Twitter does!
.
Special thanks has to go to The UK Alliance of Wedding Planners and in particular Andrea of A Fabulous Day Wedding Planning. If this lady organises a wedding with anything near the military precision that she organised my event, you’ll be laughing all the way to the altar. You need this gal in your corner! To be honest anyone who hands me a big bag of Sanctuary products as a thank you present gets my lifelong friendship!

If you couldn’t make this event, I’ll also be presenting at the following events:
.
Forward Ladies’ Positive Women’s Day in Runcorn – Friday 24th February 2012.

.
Forward Ladies’ Positive Women’s Day in Leeds – Friday 20th March 2012.

My planned sessions broadly cover the following:
