I was recently lucky enough to be made over by today’s fabulous Featured Supplier, Jo of Make Up By Jo.  As well as being a thoroughly lovely person, by goodness can she work wonders with a make-up brush!  I went from looking tired, drawn and dried out (too many late nights in front of a computer screen) to radiant and, ahem, beautiful with a flick of her magic wand.

.

You really must meet this wonder woman!  Tis witchcraft, I tell you…

.

.

Hi Jo!  Tell us a little bit about your trade…

.

My experience in the industry began 20 years ago when I first applied for a job with Lancôme. During the 10 years working for Lancôme I gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the industry working for large accounts in York, Edinburgh and Manchester with strict training courses and events.

.

Afterwards I moved into fashion working as a manageress and buyer for an exclusive boutique where I spent time at London Fashion week and had a great understanding of the fashion world.  I had the good fortune around seven years ago meeting celebrity International make-up artist Ariane Poole who I work closely with on events and shows to this day in the North East and London.

.

I always keep up-to date with application, style and techniques of make-up with frequent trips to London.

.

My services range from bridal make-up, make-up lessons, photo shoots, commercial and editorial shoots.

Would you recommend a make-up trial?  Why?

.

Yes I always offer a make-up trial to the bride. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss ideas, colours, style of wedding. On the wedding day I will arrive at either the home or venue and will stay with the bride until her wedding dress is on for final touches of make-up. If the mums and bridesmaids require a make-up trial that can also be included as well.

Any really special weddings that you have worked on?

.

I have so many memorable weddings in their own way. Two that stick in mind, A biker wedding when I arrive at the venue Middleton Lodge there was two lines of motorbikes which was the aisle for the bride to walk down to the alter. The grooms and the party wore their jeans and biking jackets. The bride wore an amazing corset denim black dress and the bridesmaids wore denim corseted dresses. The other wedding was at home with a large marquee. Everyone was running late and I ended up ironing dads shirt, helping him with his cravat, hovering the house for the guests to return back to and making sure the bride was dressed and helping her lace her delicate lace corset dress.
