It’s Monday. It’s a five day week. Bah.
.
I’m currently in recovery from a fabulous Brides Up North Wedding Exclusive at Nostell Priory – what a way to kick off the Autumn calendar! Huge thanks to the fabulous Dine Services, the extended Brides Up North team, my amazing exhibitors and all the lovely brides and their guests who came out in absolute force to support the event. What a brilliant day! (I love you all).
.
For those of you who are feeling just as tired as I am, I thought I’d lift the Monday blues with another elegant Real Wedding instalment, again using a royal blue colour scheme but with a different feel from our stunning sapphire toned wedding this morning. I really love that no two weddings are alike! This time we are in Yorkshire at gorgeous Fountains Abbey, with images from JB Creatives and words by real bride Kairon.
.
And as an aside, how much do you love Kairon’s sparkly shoes? I like them a lot.

Kairon says: Trevor proposed in February 2011 at home in the kitchen one evening and we were married on 1st June 2012 at Fountains Hall, Fountains Abbey, Ripon.

We wanted something that was a heritage site and we visited it with my family and had a great day out and decided there and then that we wanted to get married there. The atmosphere of the Hall and grounds was everything that we wanted. A traditional setting but so that we could skip the other wedding traditions and make the day our own. We chose to have an elegant day with a royal blue colour scheme.

I wore a silk backless dress with a small flowing train and diamond details on the bust, lower back and front of dress. It went brilliantly with my sparkly shoes! I fell in love with my dress as soon as i saw it in The Bridal House in Leeds. I initially saw a picture of it on a model on the wall in the shop and myself, my sister aka my maid of honour and general personal assistant and my mum all said the same thing “That would look lovely on you” and fortunately they had it in the shop.
.
We found Debonnesse online and she did my hair perfectly! My sister did the make up for everyone after we had all had make up lessons at MAC at Harvey Nichols.

My maid of Honour and my bridesmaid were my sister and our cousin. They are both very different in looks and personality so I wanted something that they would both like and maybe wear again. I really wanted them to wear something from Coast as I think the quality of their dresses are great. Fortunately we found a dress that was similar but came in different lengths to make them different from each other and the royal blue colour looked great with both their complexions.
.
The groom hired a suit from Yorkshire Menswear in Rodley which was recommended by one of his best friends. His best man wore a suit from his own eclectic collection.

The flowers were from The Greenhouse Florist in Ripon and Amy did exactly what we wanted and managed this despite us being vague about what flowers we wanted. She kept them British and the colours that we specified.

I carried a draping bouquet of royal blue delphiniums and white peonies with other traditional British flowers. The bridesmaids also had the same but small bouquets with no delphiums. The blue of the delphiniums really stood out against my white dress.

Our drinks reception was the most relaxing and social part of the day and I remember everyone smiling so much.

We had a lovely lady make our cake which was chocolate and Victoria sponge and covered in royal blue icing with some delicate touches. I would recommend Sugar Crafted Cakes.
.
.
.
.
We had Gin and Tonic and chocolate truffles as favours in miniature glasses and boxes with “drink me” and “eat me” on little labels very like Alice in Wonderland.
.
.
.
.
A company called Taste Cuisine catered the drinks reception which was amazing and National Trust catered a BBQ for the evening reception which was also amazing, lots of yummy food to go round for all.
.
We had classical music playing during the wedding breakfast and a DJ at the evening reception. Our DJ was a guy called Rob from BGN Events who was very accommodating to our different tastes. The groom is very much into punk and I prefer pop and current music. He managed to get all our requests on and mix the music well to suit all the guests.

We went to Whitby for a few days after the wedding and we are going to Florence in Italy in May.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to not over plan things and enjoy the day. If the little things don’t go right it doesn’t matter as what matters is that you are spending the rest of your life with your soul mate.
.
.
Congratulations Kairon & Trevor!
