Today’s fairy tale theme continues with the most beautiful Real Wedding sent to me by Brides Up North reader Jennie and my fabulous Featured Supplier Jess Petrie Photography.
.
I featured Jennie and Andrew’s lovely engagement shoot on Brides Up North a little while ago – click here to see it – (and included their images in one of my columns for National glossy Wedding Magazine) so it is lovely to see them tie the knot in style.

Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin. Once upon a time…

Jennie says: Andrew proposed in June last year on the top of Loughrigg Fell in the Lake District. The ring was packed as part of our picnic! We said “I do” on 2nd August 2012 at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel, Chipping, Lancashire.

We were looking for an outdoor wedding venue and this hotel had a very pretty garden. The interior was quite fairy tale like with stone arches and stain glass windows. Our theme was based on fairy tales with a baby pink, pale lime and cream colour scheme. All our tables were named after pantomimes we have performed in over the years.

My dress was Darci by Maggie Sottero and was made in pearl coloured satin. It had a ruffled skirt and corset back with a line of jewels around the waist. I also had diamantes on my veil.
.
My bridesmaids wore long, pale lime, satin dresses by Watters and my flower girls wore baby pink, satin dresses by Dessy. The groomsmen wore black morning suits with cream waistcoats and green cravats. The page boys wore pink cravats while Andrew had a cream cravat – all from Swarbricks of Middleton.

Flower Design supplied our fabulous flowers. My shower bouquet consisted of ‘sweet avalanche’ roses, gemini, sweet peas, calla lilies, eucalyptus and champagne grass. My bridesmaids had posies with the same flowers and my flower girls had small sweet pea posies. We had a variety of corsages and rose button holes.

Jenn Edwards was our hair and make up artist and gave all the girls a glowing, natural look.

My favourite part of the day was the wedding ceremony. It was a scene I had been imagining for a long time and I wish I could go back in time and do it all again.

Our photographer was Jess Petrie. We met up prior to the big day for an engagement shoot in one of our favourite dog walking spots and had fun practicing our wedding poses. Jess has documented our wedding in pictures like a storybook (which compliments our fairy tale theme) and uses natural light to her advantage.

Our favours were silver horse and carriages filled with jelly beans and small pillow boxes with fairy tale extracts on them. The pillows were all hand made by Vintage Twee.

My Auntie designed and made my cake. It included many hand made flowers made of icing to match my bouquet and a bride and groom to look like us on the day. The bridesmaids and page boys received their own personal cup cakes.

Creative Chair Cover Hire supplied white chair covers with alternating pink and green organza bows.

Our table plan was hand painted by a family member on a canvas with pictures relating to the table names. We now have this on our wall at home to remind us who was with us on our special day.

We had a pianist for our wedding breakfast and DJ and singers for our evening party.

After the wedding we travelled to Scotland and visited Glasgow then honeymooned in a hotel on the shores of Loch Lomond.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be that the day will fly by for both bride and groom so hire a videographer for the day so you can watch it again at a later date. It’s hard to remember exactly where the time of day went! We had Adrian Patrick for ours and it’s not just a video, it’s a movie!
